conversations with the present perfect. Use contractions.

ABOUT ME . . . TARA POWELL
I was born in 1983. Everyone said I was a pretty
baby. I used to model clothes in magazines and
catalogs. I started to appear in magazines when I
was three. In 1995, when I was in high school, I
joined the drama club and acted in my first play.
I was in the drama club in college, too. In 1999,
my family and I moved to Los Angeles. Two years
later – in 2001 – I started acting lessons with
my best friend. I needed to make some money,
so I worked part-time as a model for some online
catalogs. In 2003, I got a small role in a TV show.
I still have that small role, and I’m still working as
a model. I hope to act in movies soon.

I’VE WORKED HARD!
My dad has always loved baseball, so when I was
born in 1988, he gave me a baseball nickname . . .
“Slugger.” When I was two, he bought me a little
bat and a ball. We practiced every day after he
came home from work. I remember when I was
four, we used to watch baseball games on TV, too.
While we were watching the games, he explained
the rules. I joined my first team when I was five.
When I was ten, I started to exercise every day. I
ran for 30 minutes. My mom always ran with me.
She still does.
This afternoon, I’m going to run for an hour,
practice with my dad, and then we’re going to
relax in front of the TV and watch . . . some
baseball! Tomorrow, I’m going to try to get a
place on a professional baseball team.
