Expression Module

Project Plan

Description

Honestly, I’m not sure what to do about my project. I have a vision for myself and my
future but it’s constantly changing. I chose my Museum Studies art degree because I
have a passion for history and how the world changes. Art is the most reliable and
sustainable way to capture those changes. For my project, I want to pick a medium
that’s as fluid and shifting as my plans for the future. My goal in life is to live a thousand
lifetimes in one, and to never be stuck in one possible outcome. As I write this I realize I
have the perfect idea for my project.

Project Medium (Multimedia)

For my medium, I picked a choose your own adventure book. Seeing as I can’t write a
whole book in the span of a few days, and figure out how to embed that into the
website, I’m going to make it in the form of a presentation on keynote or something. I
feel like this fits my professional vision, because often times I feel like I’m living in a
choose your own adventure book and I can’t decide what page to flip to.

Potential Benefits of Multimedia

I’m not really sure what this means by benefits but in my experience, powerpoints are
the perfect way to convey information. As a student, I learn best when a teacher gives a
lecture, with the key points written in a powerpoint for me to copy down in a notebook.
That way I know what’s important to know and what’s just a side remark that’s not going
to benefit me knowing for the future test or assignment. While this particular project isn’t
for anyone’s benefit but my own, the power point I feel is also the most organized way
to convey my feelings and thoughts by adding images and music.
Potential Challenges of Multimedia

I haven’t used powerpoint in a long time and don’t necessarily remember how to add
music and how to change the slide transitions but that will just have to come with
practice. The other struggle I perceive is being able to get it on the website without
anything freaking out on me. This entire class I’ve been struggling with embedding stuff
on the website, but so far so good I think.

Draft / Completed Project Outline (or storyboard)

My plan is to start the slides off with a title page and a little bit of story to introduce the
character (me) and my setting (graduating high school) kind of like a children’s book.
After a few slides of that I’ll start getting the readers to pick a direction and skip to a
certain slide based off that decision. I have to be careful not to use too many options as
to keep in as simple as possible, again, basing my model off of a stereotypical children’s
book structure. Some of the choices may include: getting married and becoming a mom,
going back to a theatre degree, becoming a museum curator, pursuing marine biology,
moving around the world in search of the meaning of life like Zac Efron, and moving to
LA and starting over, living in a one bedroom modern loft or a cute country vintage
cottage with a million plants, to what my life actually became (for now).

Artist Statement

As an artist, I’ve dealt with a vast array of mediums. I’ve been on and offstage in a
theater, I’ve worked with digital art, charcoal drawing, 3D minifigure painting,
professional writing, poetry, musical composition and performance, and architecture. My
goal in life thus far has been to embrace the “Jack of all trades and a master in none”
philosophy, and to be able to give myself options. I feel like I have to rush to begin the
rest of my life, and while that’s not entirely true, I still should start early if I want to get
everything done in one lifetime. Being able to pursue many options doesn’t leave a lot of
time for anything outside of my very busy life, but being with someone I love is very
important to me, but that leads me to my next struggle of wanting to move every 6
months to pursue something else, but having someone to hold me to one spot.
