Proposed title for my Project Proposal: (write the proposed title for your Capstone Project in one clear
sentence): the learnings of easy hairstyles.

What is your inquiry question that interests you for further research? It should be a question that connects with
a purpose, passion or personalized area of interest for you. This is a question that you cannot just google an
answer for. Please see examples from your Capstone booklet.
My inquiry question is:

Am I able to teach myself hair styles and making it into basic terms so I can teach other people my
learnings?

Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question. Explain WHY you are choosing to
investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry connect to your passion(s),
purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?

If I cannot teach myself how to do different hairstyles, I wouldn't know how I could teach other people in a
way they could grasp the concept easily and efficiently. In the future I would really like to own my own salon
to I would have to constantly be teaching myself new things.

Background: What background knowledge/connections/prior learning do you have in this area of inquiry?

When i was in grade 4 i became best friends with this girl who I always admired her beautiful long blonde
hair and her mom always had a new style with it, so i asked her mom if she can show me how to do some
and i would always do my best friends hair after schools.

Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What connections does this
inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals?

Ever since I was a little girl i always dreamed of owning my own salon and doing something that involved
beauty. Beauty has always been a passion of mine, whenever i have free time I tend to do new makeup
 styles that i may not be comfortable with and even with hair. Growing up my mom didn't really do fun things
with my hair so as i grew up I knew i wanted to change that for myself so i can help anybody who needed
their hair done. I'm very glad i chose this as my capstone project because now i know that this is something i
definitely want to pursue in my near future.

Interdisciplinary and core competencies connections: What subject areas and core competencies will
be connected with your project? Outline and explain the connections.

For my project the main core competencies will be:

Creative thinking: for my Instagram page I wanted to try something different, so I had to think about
something’s I could do to make it look pretty and the way I wanted it to.
Personal awareness & responsibility: I had to really get on top of things and that really incorporated having
responsibility for everything not even just the time I have. I had to think of me personally and what I could
actually achieve.
Communication: communication is a big deal when it comes to my project I wanted to originally have real
people be my models but unfortunately that just could not happen but I asked people around me for advice
and different hairstyles they would like to see and it gave me a chance to different perspectives and not just
my own.

I will be using my website as well as a slideshow presenting my capstone project. For my main area of the
project i will be making an Instagram account and that is where i will post my hair tutorials to show people
how do hairstyles more easy. My slideshow will be just outlining what i will be saying during my
presentation.

Description of my Capstone project. Specific Project Details of the Capstone Project: what will you
research, create, study, produce, solve, investigate? What product will be produced at the end of this
project for evaluation. Write a one-page description outlining your proposal.

With my capstone I had a lot of ideas in the beginning, I first wanted to write a poetry book but then I was
already doing that for my final English project so I decided against the book. When my friend bought up
doing something with hair it gave me a really good idea and so that is when I finally decided what I was
 going to do. My idea was to create an Instagram page from scratch and that is where I would post my
tutorials of the hairstyles I was planning on teaching, I made a theme for my page with a soft girl aesthetic
so people would be more intrigued into my page. To learn the hairstyles my plan was to browse Instagram
to see what types of videos that were out there so I can see what i should and shouldn't do for my
Instagram page and that was quite helpful I will say. When it came to my website I had some struggles with
that because I just didn't really know what I was doing but once I figured it out, it was a breeze so for my
presentation of my final capstone project I will be having my slideshow out and I will be talking about
everything that is on the slideshow and I will be having my link to my website and my Instagram page as
well so we can see the entire project.

Resources/ Technology/Skills: Make an assessment of the resources, technology and skills you will
need to be able to complete this project. What is your plan to be able to access/learn all of the resources
necessary to achieve completion of this project? Detail your plans.

To complete my capstone project I will be using different types of medias, which will include Instagram,
YouTube and Pinterest as that is where I got all my hairstyle ideas from. When I first started my project i
was going through Instagram and that’s where i got my idea for an aesthetic that i wanted.

Mentors/Community Connections: What types of mentor(s)/community connections will you need to

help you complete your capstone project? How will your mentor(s) help you? What is your plan to access
the mentorship/community connections necessary for this project?

For my mentor I didn’t really have one but I had a friend that decided she wanted to go into hair as a
profession and when she first started out, she would give me lots of tips and tricks with my own hair as I
have been dying my own hair since the beginning of grade 9. Over the past year as she has been in
school for hair I have been taking in as much information as I possibly could which also gave me the great
idea to do something around hair for my capstone as it possibly may be my future career.

Project limitations: What are some project limitations and potential obstacles that you foresee that might
affect progress with your Capstone Project?

For my final product I was hoping to have a good set up to film my hair tutorials, but turns out it is a lot
harder then I originally anticipated. That being said I had to really improvise on the angles and area
where I had been filming. Another obstacle I was facing was the time since I didn't really fully decide what
I wanted to do for my capstone right away, basically gave me a time limit to create my vision of my whole
capstone project.
Other considerations: List and detail any other related information/ considerations about your project
that you feel should be included in your project proposal.

Hopefully the head I ordered to try the hairstyles on is a good match and will work because it was over 50
dollars and it can fully help me in the future to start my career.
