Society is in fact influenced by many factors. By the end of this unit, I would like my students to
have a clear understanding of how information can be used for the greater good and how it can
potentially lead to ones’ demise. My end goal is for the class to create positive affirmations to
influence society. This will be done online, via posts and hashtags, and in-person via posters
that are posted over the entire campus (where allowed). This is to wrap up our 10-day study into
the influences on society. We need a very minimum for this project, as the main ingredient is
what’s inside the student’s hearts and minds. The first thing my students will need is poster
boards. They are instrumental in completing this project. This is where students will write
positive affirmations along with a design of their choice. Colored pencils and markers will be
needed for drawing purposes. Students will be able to use colors of their choice in hopes of
creating a positive space wherever their poster may land. Both are needed as some people
prefer one to the other. Students need access to the internet. Students will need Chromebooks
for multiple reasons. Leading up to the project, students are required to participate in various
online discussion posts. They may also want to visit something discussed during instruction, as
there are many references from times they were not born, so many concepts may need a
second gander. These Chromebooks make it possible for students to take notes while listening
and submit assignments. Most importantly, overall for this project, they are needed for online
access. For this project, they will most likely use the internet to look up current quotes they
would like to use, and/or graphics they would like to recreate. Last, but equally important, is the
need for tape. I believe this will be the best way to attach these posters to walls inside and
outside of the building. The tape is packing tape, to ensure durability.
