Terrorism on our Youths in the Philippines

Communist party of the Philippines (CPP), New people’s army (NPA), National Democratic Front
of the Philippines (NDFP) was all founded by Jose Maria Sison who is a Filipino writer and activist and the
former teacher of the current Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. The first organization he founded
was CPP that was founded on December 26, 1968. Duterte himself declared the CPP a terrorist group in
2017, but it still not yet legally declared by the court of the Philippines. NPA was founded on 29 th March
1969 with the former members of the Hukbong Mapagpalaya ng Bayan, that was led by Bernabe
Buscanyo, The NPA grew even more when Ferdinand Marcos declared martial law in the Philippines.
And NDFP was founded on the 24th of April 1973, the NDFP was formed to unite the revolutionary
organizations that was made during the martial law. Red tagging is one of the issues that angers many
organizations, but the government promised that they are not the enemies and red tagging is not part of
government policy, many former NPA member testimony is that there is no really a red tag and they are
freely recruiting people who wants to join their underground organization. Officials Defense Secretary
Delfin Lorenzana and, Southern Luzon Command Chief Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. declares that Sison
himself red-tagged the organizations.

The Crimes of the organizations of Jose Sison is without a doubt is an activity of a terrorist
group, like the NPA killed a 4-month-old baby and said that it was just an accident. While they are
travelling on Talakag-Bumbaran Road in Talakag town, they were ambushed by the NPA. NPA terrorism
is not new, killing of innocent civilians, executions of farmers and making an area a war zone.
Revolutionary taxation is also one of their crime, I remember it was my grandmother’s funeral in Bicol
last 2015 we are staying on their house in Barangay Comun, Camalig, Albay. When we are riding a bike
with my cousin around four o’clock in the morning we end up in an ongoing construction site and later
learned that it will be an international airport soon, there are two barangays separating ours and the
Alubu, Daraga, Albay where the International airport is being build. But on 2019 there are news that the
NPA attacked and destroyed some equipment like the hauling truck that is being used to build the
airport and on last and on September 28, 2017, E.M Cuerpo Inc. reported that the rebels also burned
ten of their heavy equipment, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said that the attack was likely motivated
by the NPA demand for revolutionary tax. Telcos are also harassed by the NPA demand for revolutionary
tax, they are torching the tower of the company if they do not agree to give them their cut, that is why
most of the tower of the telcos are now inside the army barracks for protection. The killings of their own
member if they think that they are a spy, there is a testimony that they will beat the person until they
are no longer breathing. The killing of politics that does not support them and the people who does not
obey their rules. The brainwashing promising their members to have a decent life and their own land
and members being abused by the higher ups in the organizations.

Youths can be brainwashed easily that is why the terrorist organizations CPP-NPA is aiming to
recruit them and many youths can’t afford to buy what they like and sometimes are being abused by
their friends and even by their family that is why it is more easier for the organizations to recruit them,
there is one testimony by the former NPA that said if only her family is not abusive she will never join
the organization. The implications of Youths recruitment will bring more unsecure future because there
will be more terrorist and more people will die because of it and the development of our country will be
more slow and worst there will no be improvement at all. As what Rizal said the youths are the future of
our nation but if the youths will be a terrorist there will be no hope for our country. And as a youth let
us not only rely on the government or the grownups for a change, because change will always start in
ourselves. Me, as an art student, I will help counter terrorism by creating an art that will inform our
youths what will happened if they join these kind of organizations and make them aware of what type of
people should they be with. But if I can be a president for a day I would lessen the tuition fee to help
students to pursue their studies and be a professional someday also free books and more to entertain
themselves and not do bad things. Most especially on the rural areas because NPA has more success
rate recruiting the youths in these areas, I will also give them a land for them to farm and free farming
equipment and seeds for them not to think that they are being left out by the government and not think
about being a rebel also build a proper road for them to easily transport their goods to the market or to
the city.

Many youths are forced to join the organization because they think they lack something and find
it in the organization also promising them a good and decent life but ends up ruining their future, many
of these kids can be save if only some people is not greedy because some joins the organization because
they lack money for their tuition fees, some was abused by their own family member and some just
want something to keep them distracted from reality, these all can be avoided by not being greedy like
politicians who is self centered taking most of the money that should be use for the children and some
parents that thinks only about their pleasure. The CPP-NPA-NDFP are a cruel bunch and the youths are
easy to brainwash, if we let our youths to be use by these kind of people Philippines future will be much
worst.
