DISTANCE LEARNING Student Training Video Instructions for School Staff & Educators

Step 1: Go to the following link: https://www.sandyhookpromiselearning.org/

Step 2: Select Educators from the choices below.


Important Note:
If you already
have an account
set up, click the
“Login” button
enter your
credentials and
proceed to Step 5

Step 3: Find you school by typing in your School name and State in boxes provided and hit “Search”.
Your school should automatically pop up. Once it does select your school to move onto the next step.

Step 4: Once you find your school, its time to set up your account. You will need enter email, name,
create a password and select from the drop down the best option to describe your role. The click
“Create New Account” button.

Step 5: Once your account is set up you will see the below screen. Click the “Add New Learning
Activity” button to set up a classroom to host your training session.

Step 6: Select the “Say Something Anonymous Reporting System” option.

**Important note: If you see the “Say Something” Program – same logo, without the words under the
speech bubble. Please contact Dawn Andrews at training@sandyhookpromise.org, immediately.

Step 7: Select your course. Since this training is for your remote students, you would select the “Say
Something – ARS: Distance Learning” video. Due to the content of the other training videos, it is
important that only select the “Say Something – ARS: Distance Learning” for your remote learners.

Important note -If your students are training in the school building, please refer to the In Person Learning
Instructions.

Step 8: Setting up your sessions for your remote students.

Regardless of if you are training your new incoming students or students that have been trained on SS-
ARS in the 2019-2020 school year – they will all view the same Distance Learning video. You will need to
set up a Learning Activity for all your remote students by identifying the number of students in each
grade you will be training. When done, press “Create Learning Activity.”

You can train your remote students by either live streaming the video to them via your classroom platform
(Google Meets, Zoom, etc.) or by setting up individual rosters and sending out a link and password to
each student.

Important Note: If you are going to have some remote students train via a live stream and some train on
their own time via the link, you will need to set up Learning Activities for each session. For example, Mrs.
Smith is going to send out a link to 50 of her students and live stream 100 of her other students. She’d set
up a Learning Activity called “Mrs. Smith’s remote learners” and another Learning Activity called “Mrs.
Smith’s Live Stream”

To live stream the video to your remote students, you will select the Launch Content. The video will

You will need to select “Classroom Launch” for your students to be shown as trained. If you would like to
preview the content of the video before you show your students, you can do so by selecting “Educator
Preview”. Please note that watching the preview will not give your class credit, you must launch the
classroom version to receive credit for training your students

To set up individual roster and send the student’s a link and sign on info, you will set your individual
students up by clicking the “Individual Roster”. Then click “Enable Individual Student Roster”

When you get to this screen, type the first name of each student following the instructions in the pop
up. You may also copy and paste the names of your students in this box. Hit submit when done.

You will see the student’s names you entered are below with a unique password for access. For ease of
sharing, if you have a lot of students you may sychronize passwords to assign the same password to all
students. To do this, you would type the password to what you want it to be and hit the “Sychronize
Student Passwords” button. You will get a pop up where you can type the new password in, hit submit
and it will update all the computer generated password to the password chosen by you.

To share this information with your students, you would copy the link by copying by pressing the copy
button and emailing the student their sign on information – which is their first name and the password
that you’ve chosen or the autogenerated unique password which will be to right of the Student’s name
in (parenthesis) and italics.

Student Sign In

When you students click the link you sent them, they will be directed to the following screen. There they will
type in their first name along with the password that was assigned to them.

Once your students have signed in, they will be brought to this page. Where they will hit View and the
Distance Learning video will automatically start to play.

Congratulations! You have trained your students!!
