Effect Cause

Living things in Australia are unusual.

George Shaw was the first scientist to


examine and write about the platypus.

George Shaw wondered if the animal was


a hoax. He had good reason to worry.

Settlers had a hard time finding these


animals (platypus).

In 1884, British scientist William Hay


Caldwell came to Australia.

In 1835, the new class of mammal named


“monotreme” was created.

The echidna is also called a spiny


anteater.

The platypus crushes and grinds its’ food


on the pads in its’ bill.
