Why Is It Important?

process in organizational change management.

strategies, and mergers, acquisitions, and partnering

associated with performance of operational data quality

◦ monitoring staff performance in reacting to data quality incidents
o When issues are not addressed within the specified resolution
times, an escalation process must exist to communicate non-
observance of the level of service up the management chain
(8) Continuously Measure and Monitor Data
Quality
o Data quality operations team members are responsible for four activities:
◦ Inspection and monitoring: Either through some automated process or via a
manually invoked process, subject the data sets to measurement of
conformance to the data quality rules, based on full-scan or sampling methods.
◦ Diagnosis and evaluation of remediation alternatives: The objective is to review
the symptoms exhibited by the data quality incident, trace through the lineage
of the incorrect data, diagnose the type of the problem and where it originated,
and pinpoint any potential root causes for the problem.
◦ Resolving the issue: Having provided a number of alternatives for resolving the
issue, the data quality team must confer with the business data owners to select
one of the alternatives to resolve the issue.
◦ Reporting: To provide transparency for the DQM process, there should be
periodic reports on the performance status of DQM (data quality score card,
trends, performance, etc).
