1.1 Preface

Thank you, for choosing FANTEC 4KP6800. We hope, that this home
entertainment device brings you a lot of joy. Parts of this manual can slightly
vary from the product or its software. This media player has the following
functions:

A/V Output
- HDMI 2.0 for ultra-high definition video and digital audio.
- Composite video and stereo audio as optional analogue connection.
- Optical S/PDIF connector for digital Hi-Fi audio.
- Coaxial interface for digital hi-fi audio.
- Adjustable video output resolution (NTSC, PAL, 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i,
1080p, 2160p)

1.3 Warnings

To use the FANTEC 4KP6800 Media Player safely and efficiently please carefully
read the following instructions prior to first use.

1.3.1 Usage Instruction

Do not try to alter the hard- or software of the device, since it will lead to
expiration of your warranty claim. When using customary hard drives the
ambient temperature should be between +5° C and + 35° C.

1.3.2 Power Supply

The supply voltage of the player is DC 12V.

When using the player connect the included AC power pack or the AC adapter
cable to the designated port. If you set up the power supply, please make sure
the cable will not be damaged or pinched. To avoid electric shock, unplug the AC
adapter from the wall outlet before cleaning. Never connect the AC adapter to
the player when it is in a damp or dusty environment. Always use the original
supplied power adapter, cable and plug.

1.3.3 Radio Interference

- If they not particularly shielded, almost all electrical appliances are interfered
by radio interference. Under certain circumstances, your player could be
interfered.

- The design of this player is based on CE standards and is subject to this.

Regulations:

(1) This player does not produce harmful radio emissions.

(2) The player may be affected by radio radiation from other devices in its
function.

1.3.4 Repairment

If there is a problem with the media player, you should take it to a certified
repair shop and let specialists do the repair. Never perform the repair yourself, it
could damage the media player and endanger yourself and your data.

1.3.5 Disposal of the media player

If you want to part with your media player, please make sure that the device is
disposed of properly. In some countries, regulations apply to the disposal of
electrical equipment. Please follow local legislation.

1.3.6 Additional Information

When using the media player, do not allow it to be exposed to water or other
liquids. If, by mistake, water should splash on the media player, please use a dry
cloth to absorb the spatter.

Electronic devices are sensitive. Avoid shocks and jolts, especially when the
device is in operation, do not force the buttons and keep them away from
magnetic fields.

Do not allow the media player to come into contact with water or other liquids.

Do not remove the hard drive from the player, do not attempt to repair it, and
do not alter the player design. Should the media player be damaged in process,
you will lose your warranty.

During static discharges and in strong magnetic fields, the device will not work
properly. Then disconnect the device from the mains for some time and then try
again.

1.5 Connection

1.5.1 Power connection

(1) Connect the power adapter to the DC IN jack;


(2) Plug the AC adapter into the wall outlet.

1.5.2 Connection of USB devices

(1) Make sure the media player is turned on;


(2) Connect USB flash drive or USB hard disk, etc. to the USB HOST.

This will allow you to browse the contents on your USB device.

1.5.3 Connecting to a TV

(1) Connect a plug of your HDMI cable to the HDMI jack of the player.
(2) Connect the other end of your HDMI cable to the HDMI jack on the TV.
Note: The HDMI cable is not included.

This way, you can achieve the highest audio and video quality with just a single
cable.

1.5.4 S/PDIF Connection to a digital amplifier

(1) Connect the Toslink plug to the optical S/PDIF port of the media player.
(2) Connect the other plug to the digital audio device (digital amplifier or
decoder).

Note: The Toslink cable is not included.

1.5.5 Coaxial connection to a digital amplifier

(1) Connect the Cinch plug of your analogue cable to the COAX port of the media
player.
(2) Connect the other Cinch plug to the digital audio device (digital amplifier or
decoder).

Note: The Cinch cable is not included.

This allows you to enjoy the powerful Dolby Digital/ Dolby Digital Plus/ Dolby
TrueHD/ DTS or MPEG audio.
DTS-HD sound is transmitted via HDMI cable and an amplifier with HDMI
interface is needed.

1.5.6 Connection to LAN

To connect to a local area network (LAN), you will need a cat5, cat5e, or cat6
network cable (not included).
1) Connect one of the plugs to the player's RJ45 LAN port.
(2) Connect the other end of the cable to the RJ45 LAN port of your router,
switch or hub.
(3) Go to Settings → Network → to determine the IP address of the LAN
connection. To edit the network settings, go to Settings → More → Ethernet.

(4) Please turn off the Wi-Fi function while the device is connected via network
cable. (See Settings → More → WLAN)

1.5.7 Connecting to WiFi

(1) Make sure that the media player is switched on.


(2) Make sure, that your WiFi router is also switched on and that the WiFi
network is available.
(3) Go to Settings → Network → WiFi to determine the IP address of the WiFi
connection. To edit the settings please go to Settings → More → WiFi and select
your WiFi network. Press the OK button for about 3 seconds to bring up the
menu to edit the network settings.
(4) Please turn off the cable network while the device is connected via WiFi. (See
Settings → More → Ethernet)

1.6 First Steps

1.6.1 Setting the system language

After you first connected the media player to a TV, you can edit the following
settings among others: Menu Language, Time, Network Settings, and Screen Size.

If the menu language is not set to English by default, please proceed as follows:

a) Select the settings icon from the main menu:

b) Then click on the „More“ icon to the right:

c) In the following menu click on Language & Input and select „English (United
States). You can change these settings anytime in the set-up menu.

If you have confirmed this selection, you switch to mouse function.

Note: To activate / deactivate the mouse pointer, please press the "MOUSE"
icon on the remote control. Use the directional pad to move the pointer over the
screen and confirm with OK.

d) Click on the 3 dots on the top right of the screen.

e) Click on „Remove“.

f) Check the box next to "German" (or any language except for English) to delete
it as the default language and then click on the trash can icon in the upper right
corner of the screen.

g) Now confirm the deletion of the language with "OK". After that, the menu
language should be set to English.

Now you’re free to deactivate the mouse function on the remote control again.

Navigating the device can be done with the included remote control, but we
recommend using a mouse/keyboard set (wireless or not).

1.6.2 Setting the Language of the KODI Player

a) Open the KODI APP and select the icon for settings.

b) Select „Interface settings“

c) Click on „Standard“ to bring up the option „Expert“.

d) Select the box „Regional“ and then „Language“

f) Select your preferred language.

Important: The device already has to be connected to the internet in order to


download the language packages. You can observe the downloading progress via
the progress bar.

1.6.3 Set up the remote control within the KODI Player (optional).

If the RETURN button does not work within the KODI Player, please follow these
steps.

a) Select „System“.

b) Click on the option „Input“ and then on „Configure connected controllers“.

c) Click on „Back“ and press the OK button on the remote control. Then press
„RETRUN“ on the remote control.

Finally navigate the mouse with the control pad to „OK“ and confirm your
selection by pressing OK on your remote control.

1.6.4 Adjusting the refresh rate in KODI.

a) Click on „Play Back“

b) Select „Video“ and then „Adjust Frame Rate“.

In addition, we also offer the control of a smartphone or tablet. The necessary


APPs can be downloaded to your Android device via the following barcodes.
Please also note that the installation of APK files in the settings of your device
must be unlocked.

2.2 Settings for Programmable Keypad

1. Press the SET button in the TV section for 3 seconds, until the red LED
lights up permanently. Now you are in programming mode.

Note: If no button is pressed within 15 seconds, the programming mode


will abort automatically.

2. Place the remote control of the media player about 3 cm in front of the
IR-receiver of your TV remote control.
3. If you press the Power-button in the TV area, the red LED will start to
flash; now you press the Power-button on your remote control. After the
red LED has flashed three times, the programming was successful. Now
you can use the remote control of the FANTEC 4KP6800 to switch your
TV on and off.
4. If you want to program other buttons just repeat step 1 to 3.
5. Press the SET-button to exit programming mode.

3. Functions

The settings menu allows you to personalize and configure your device

3.1 Settings Menu

To select a settings option do the following:


Select the Settings icon from the Home screen:

Use the navigation keys to select an option and press OK.

Here you will have multiple options, including Network, Display, Playback and
more. With the navigation keys you can select a menu. Press OK to enter. Press
Return to return to the previous menu.

3.1.1 Change additional settings

In this menu you can configure the system settings. The user interface is based
on Android. Due to legal limitations and the large range of functions of this
operating system, we cannot fully address the content and functionality of
individual components. However, retailers and manuals are available to
specifically deal with this Android operating system.

3.2 Installation of APPs

Typically, APPs will be downloaded and installed via Google Play Store. To use
this feature, you must have a free Google Account. Of course, you can create a
new account directly on your device. Please go to the "Pay Store" APP and follow
the steps to register your account. After completing this process, you will be able
to access APPs, games, music, and movies. Please note that this may incur
additional costs.
The device also allows the manual installation of APK files directly from the file
manager.

3.3 Formatting hard disks

1. Mount the hard disk in the dedicated hard drive bay.


2. Connect the Media Player to the PC via USB cable and switch it on.
3. Please press the key combination on the keyboard
„Win+R“ enter the command „diskmgmt.msc“ and confirm it
with the „Enter“ key.

This opens Disk Management, here you can now initialize or format your
hard disk. If the disk is brand new, it will be displayed as “Unknown” and
“Uninitialized”.

Please right-click the red arrow and select in the window "Disk
Initialization". For hard disks with a storage capacity up to 2TB activate
"MBR", for larger hard disks select the option "GPT" and confirm with
OK.

After the hard disk is initialized, you can start formatting it. To do this,
right-click the black bar and select the option "New simple volume ..."

Then confirm all windows with "Next" and finally with "Finish" to carry
out the formatting. After a few seconds, formatting is complete.

4. Now you can copy your multimedia files to the hard drive and then
disconnect the device from the PC.

3.4 Set up network access from PC to Media Player (SAMBA)

1. Please activate the SAMBA Service within the system settings


of your media player.

If the box for SAMBA is checked, the service is active.

2. Check the IP address of the media player. (If the device is connected to
the network and the DHCP service is activated on the router, the IP
address should be assigned automatically).

3. In order to access the media player from your PC, press the key
combination "Win + R" on the keyboard and enter the IP
address in the field according to the following scheme \\ 192.168.10.136
and confirm the entry with the "Enter" Button. Now you can access the
Media Player via Samba (SMB) sharing and exchange files between your
PC and your Media Player.

Note: Usually, connected volumes can be accessed under the following names:
Internal memory of the media player: share\sdcard
SD Card: share\media_rw\mmcblk1p1
USB stick or internal hard disk: share\media_rw\sda1 oder sdb1

3.5 Playing DVDs ISO with DVD menu

1. Open the Wrapper APP and make sure that the following setting is
enabled.

4. Navigieren Sie auf die DVD ISO Datei und drücken Sie anschließend die
OK Taste auf der Fernbedienung, um die DVD Wiedergabe zu starten.

4. FAQ (Häufig gestellte Fragen)

1. Wie kann eine APP ins/vom Hauptmenü hinzugefügt/entfernt werden?

Hinzufügen: Klicken Sie das Symbol im Hauptmenü > Wählen Sie die
gewünschte APP aus > Drücken Sie die OK-Taste auf der Fernbedienung >
dadurch wird die gewünscht APP mit einem grünen Häckchen markiert, danach
drücken Sie auf die Zurück („Return“) Taste auf der Fernbedienung.

Entfernen: Klicken Sie das Symbol im Hauptmenü > Wählen Sie die zu
löschende APP aus, wobei alle löschbaren APPs mit einem grünen Häckchen
markiert sind > Drücken Sie die OK-Taste auf der Fernbedienung > dadurch wird
die Markierung der gewünschten APP abgewählt, danach drücken Sie auf die
Zurück („Return“) Taste auf der Fernbedienung.

2. Wie kann ich vorinstallierte APPs aus dem Hauptmenü ersetzen?


Wählen Sie das zu ersetzende Symbol im Hauptmenü an und drücken Sie die
Menü Taste auf der Fernbedienung > Wählen Sie die gewünschte APPs aus dem
APP Manager aus > Drücken Sie die OK-Taste auf der Fernbedienung.

3. Wie kann ein APP als automatisch nach Einschalten des Gerätes gestartet
werden (Autostart bzw. default start)?
Gehen Sie in den APP Manager > Wählen Sie die gewünschte APP aus > Drücken
Sie die Menu-Taste auf der Fernbedienung > Dadurch wird die APP als Autostart
APP markiert> Drücken Sie die OK-Taste auf der Fernbedienung. Wenn Sie jetzt
das Gerät einschalten, wird die von Ihnen gewählte APP automatisch geöffnet.

Mit derselben Vorgehensweise können Sie die eingerichtete APP wieder
deaktivieren bzw. eine andere APP als Autostart festlegen.

4. Kann das Gerät auf im Netzwerk freigegebene Ordner oder NAS Laufwerke
zugreifen?
Der Zugriff ist sowohl auf Netzwerkfreigaben als auch NAS Laufwerke möglich.
Bitte achten Sie darauf, dass sich alle Geräte in der selben Arbeitsgruppe (i.d.R.
WORKGROUP) befinden und Sie alle Zugangsdaten parat haben.

5. Wie richte ich ein deutsches Tastatur-Layout ein?


Sobald Sie eine Tastatur über USB (auch kabellos über 2.4GHz Funk)
angeschlossen haben, gehen Sie bitte in die Einstellungen des Gerätes. Dort
wählen Sie den Punkt „Sprache & Eingabe“ aus.

Als nächstes gehen Sie auf die Option „Physische Tastatur“ und „2.4G Dongle“

Danach richten Sie bitte das Tastatur Layout ein und wählen Sie die Sprache
„Deutsch“.

Hinweis: Sie können alle Android APPs, die sich im „Google Play Store“ oder
anderen Quellen befinden auf dem FANTEC 4KP6800 Android Smart TV Media
Player installieren.

5. Firmware Aktualisierung

5.1 Firmware über Installationsdatei aktualisieren

Soweit möglich, bieten wir auf unserer Internetseite Firmwareupdates für


diverse Geräte zum Download an. Dazu besuchen Sie bitte die Internetseite
www.fantec.de und klicken Sie auf Downloads. Im Feld Downloadsuche geben
Sie bitte die Modellbezeichnung 4KP6800 ein. Sofern für dieses Model ein
Firmwareupdate angeboten wird, können Sie sich dieses an ausgewiesener Stelle
herunterladen. Bitte beachten Sie, dass durch ein Firmwareupdate alle Daten,
APPs und Einstellungen Ihres Gerätes verloren gehen können.

5.1. 1 Aktualisierung / Werkeinstellungen

- Bette trennen Sie alle Datenträger, die mit dem Gerät verbunden sind, um
Datenverlust zu vermeiden (USB Stick, SD Karte, interne Festplatte)
- Kopieren Sie die Update.zip Datei in das Wurzelverzeichnis eines USB Sticks.
- Verbinden Sie den USB Stick mit dem Media Player, das Gerät muss sich im
Standby-Modus befinden (Power LED rot)
- Drücken Sie mit einer Nadel die “Upgrade” Taste auf der Rückseite des Gerätes
und schalten Sie das Gerät an der Vorderseite ein. Die „Upgrade“ Taste sollte
für mind. weitere 7-10 Sekunden gedrückt bleiben. Wenn das Update startet,
können Sie die Taste loslassen.
- Der Updatevorgang dauert ca. 2-3 Minuten, danach ist das Gerät auf die
Werkeinstellungen zurück gesetzt und alle Daten und installierte APPs sind
gelöscht.
