 Synopsis

The paper drawn from a join initiative of Muhammad Zahidul Islam Sojol, Abdullah Al Aqib

Pranto, Yousuf Ahmed, Khairun Naher Sristy studing in Textile Engineering providing some

details and conclusions about the given task of creating a ministry that can contribute in building

required supply chain capability which is necessary to deliver Bangladesh’s Brand promise as the

new Asian tiger by ISCEA. These four member completed their member task-driven force to

examine ways in which creating a supply chain ministry, it’s work on six drivers of supply chain,

ideas to improve supply chain and overall craving a path for Bangladesh to rise as new Asian tiger.

Introduction

The critical backbone to business organization is supply chain management. The “Four Asian

Tigers” refer to Singapore, Hong Kong South Korea and Taiwan. The four Asian tigers benefited

from being in the right place at the right time. Each of the “Four Tigers” has prioritized strong

regulation and anti-corruption measures. That’s why they’ve done a remarkable evolution. On the

other hand, Bangladesh is facing quite higher problems in this fact. Bangladesh is much corrupted

politically which are big restrictions in the progress.

Now, we want to create a special ministry of supply chain management which will take care of all

supply chains of our products, fast-paced urban growth, currency stability, macro-economic

growth.

Case Study

The given case: Establishing a “Ministry of supply chain management” in BD and suggest how

such ministry can contribute in building required supply chain capabilities that are necessary to

deliver Bangladesh’s brand promise as the “New Asian Tiger”

Study: In Our point of view we want to establish a ministry of Supply chain management which

will contribute in Bangladesh’s brand promise the new Asian tiger.

Other points to review are-

• Finding some problems lacking for supply chain management

• Solution by creating a ministry of SCM

• Differentiating between the four Asian tiger and Bangladesh

Problems for the lacking of a ministry of Supply Chain Management:

There is not a single ministry for supply chain management (SCM) in the whole world though it

is too much important for industry management of a country. The whole country faces problems

for the lack of it. For a good & strong supply chain, the production rate of a product can be slow

which is a great threat for the economy of the country. Bangladesh is also facing heavy losses in

various sectors due to lack of take care from the government side.

As we are facing some big issues in our country is given below:

❖ The prawn is called the “white Gold”. But at present due to some unwanted reasons and

losing the interest of importing the prawns of foreign countries, the prawn industry is now

in a great threat

• There’s some problem of virus attacks which is hampering the production.

Now perfect take care needed for the development of this sector.

• The dishonest workers add some impurities to the prawns such as jelly.

• Losing shipments due to not reaching products in time.

• Absence of right protocol for prawns.

Now establishing a ministry of supply chain management will solve these problems for different

products by helping them creating strong supply Chain.

Establishing a ministry of supply chain management:

Agency over view:

The ministry of supply chain is a ministry of Bangladesh. The ministry is responsible for state

supply chain, including the pricing of exported products and invent new sourced of earning foreign

currency in Bangladesh. It’s led by the supply chain management minister of Bangladesh. The

department must report to the parliament of Bangladesh.

Information sharing has been cited as one of the major means to enhance supply chain

performance. Bangladesh has too much lacking in collecting information and sharing it with the

whole world of Many products.

The facilities of a SCM is consists of the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance

of all academic research, and administrative functions of a company, while balancing financial and

technical constraints. Our companies have too much problems in this side because we have absence

of administrative take care of our own.

network to precede the regular and planned course of production and stock of materials.

Department of inventory

Inventory management is one of the most essential part of SCM. Because it’s a salient focus of

supply chains. The most fundamental role that inventory plays in SCM is that demand & supply.

Most companies of Bangladesh couldn’t maintain the balance for the lack of knowledge.

Department of transportation

Transportation entails moving inventory from point to point in the supply chain. In Bangladesh,

there’s all possible roots but companies can’t use them perfectly most often. Now this department

will make the products for the worthy transport.

Ship: Bangladesh is a revering country. So ship is a great internal transportation system. It is also

a short-cut way of transportation.

Pipelines: Pipelines is very efficient for liquids or gases such as water, oil and natural gas.

Trucks: Trucks are more flexible mode of transport. Trucks can go almost everywhere. It carries

over a big size of loads. It’ll be used in carrying heavy products.

Electronics Transport: This is the fasted mode of transport and it’s very flexible. It’s used for

movement of certain types of products such as electric energy, data & products composed of data

such as music, pictures & text.

This department will make sure to decrease the expenditure and perfect transportation for both

input materials and finished products.

Sourcing is the set of business processes required to purchase goods & services. In Bangladesh,

this service is not getting very much helpful due to lack of proper conservancy.

Pricing is a factor that gears up profits in supply chain through an appropriate match of supply and

demand. In Bangladesh, it is also a must solving factor.

Corruption is a thing we must remove for the sake of a strong supply chain. It is the biggest barrier

in Bangladesh’s all SCM system. Our dept. will strongly handle this corruption by irony hands:

Comparison between four Asian tigers and Bangladesh

Samsung Group is a South Korean multinational conglomerate headquartered in Samsung Town,

Seoul. It comprises numerous affiliated business most of them united under the Samsung brand.

Differentiating between Samsung from South Korea and Walton from Bangladesh:

❖ The product quality isn’t optimum.

❖ The after sales service isn’t satisfactory.

Solution:

❖ Raw materials that can be made locally, should be purchased.

❖ Removing the WIP section.

❖ Improving the R&D (Research & Development) for better quality products.

Our Idea

We’ll establish the ministry of SCM, it’ll work for every possible product which can evaluate us.

It’ll work for creating a strong supply chain management of our struggling possible companies like

"Walton". It’ll work for creating a good supply chain of many other possible sectors like cottage

industry, tannery industry, prawn exporting & many other electronics etc.

Own Industry

cottage industry is one of our obsolescent but much possible sector. It’s highly demandable, but

lack of well take care it’s getting out.

Our ministry will work for these sectors by creating new & unique supply chains. These will get

spread in our country & foreign as well. Our ministry will take strong measures in avoiding the

revolutionary obstacle named "Corruption". We’ll do this as fast as we can, then we’ll be able to

make up the lacks.

 Conclusion

The total case was about creating a "Ministry of SCM" & making Bangladesh one of the member

of the "Four Asian Tigers" by improving the lacks. We, here tried to make a quite good ministry

that will help ensuring Bangladesh’s rising in the list by doing their internal & external measures

& activities. Hoping this ministry namely the government will be able to make over the lacking &

make Bangladesh as a real tiger.
