This Part of BS EN 255 has been prepared by Technical Committee RHE/17, and is the
English language version of EN 255-1 : 1997, published by the European Committee for
Standardization (CEN). This Part of BS EN 255 replaces BS 7326 : Part 1 : 1990 which is
withdrawn and which was the implementation of EN 255-1 : 1988.
This British Standard is published under the direction of the Engineering Sector Board
whose Technical Committee RHE/17 has the responsibility to:
± aid enquirers to understand the text;
± present to the responsible international/European committee any enquiries on
interpretation, or proposals for change, and keep UK interests informed;
