PANTAGRAPH
Maria Nagle

Hello Maria,

I am contacting you in hopes that you would be willing to write a story to promote the Illinois
Shakespeare festival that will be taking place in the summer of 2021. The Illinois Shakespeare
Festival will be celebrating its 43rd year of production. Shows will take place at the Ewing
Theatre in Bloomington and the Center of Performing Arts in Normal.

The festival has 3 main stage productions and the Theatre for Young Audiences. Ticket prices
for the main productions range from $20 to $124, and all purchased tickets will include a $2
theatre maintenance fee for the main shows. Tickets to the Theatre for Young Audiences are free
of charge. Parking will be available in the School Street Parking Garage located at 400 W.
Beaufort Street and School Street. Patrons are allowed to park in spot number 250 and above
when the open sign is lit. Patrons may also use the circle drive between the Center of Performing
Arts and School Street Parking Garage as a pick-up and drop-off location.

The Illinois Shakespeare Festival started in 1978 on the tennis courts of Ewing Manor and has
evolved into a tradition. Illinois State University theatre students were among those who acted in
the festival's first production, Twelfth Night. Since then the festival has expanded to have
performances on the Illinois State University campus.

The festival has made its mark on history here in the twin cities. Our goal is to connect with our
community and expose Central Illinois to the arts. Given that you report on Bloomington news, I
would appreciate it if you could promote the event through the Pantagraph.

If you have any questions about the event, please feel free to contact me at any time. Thank you
for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Illinois Shakespeare Festival to Bring “Measure for Measure” to Theatre

BLOOMINGTON, Ill., Apr. 30, 2020 - Shakespeare’s classic dark comedy “Measure for
Measure” is set to perform at the 43rd annual Illinois Shakespeare Festival in the summer of
2021.

During the festival, there will be 3 other plays that will be taking place at various times

Vienna. An uproar begins as the Duke’s surrogate, Angelo, instills a strict law on sexual activity.
He soon realizes his code tempers with his own individual desires, and conflict ensues as a result.
Speaking on the strict Protestant time Shakespeare had lived in, this play also draws comparisons
to modern day issues on morality, justice, and integrity.
