SETTINGS

The main setting of the novel is the Covey family home. Most of the important events in the novel take
place here which is a reflection of how close Lara Jean is with her family as well as a reflection of her
need to break free from family ties and start living her own life. The family home is a safe haven for Lara
Jean but it also becomes a kind of prison because her feeling of comfort and safety within the home
makes her afraid to venture out and try new things.
CHARACTERS

Lara Jean-she was the main character.(protagonist)

Peter Kavinsky-he was the fake boyfriend who turned into real.(protagonist)
Josh-best friend of Lara Jean
Margot-eldest sister of Lara jean and an ex-girlfriend of josh.
Kitty-Younger sister of Lara jean.
Dr.Covey-Dad of Lara jean, Margot and kitty.
Gen-ex girlfriend of Peter kavinsky and ex friend of Lara jean.(antagonist)

PLOT

The book was started, Lara Jean explain why she writes love letters to boys that she has loved, it is
her way of getting over them, once she expressed her feelings on paper she feels she can move on and
she does not intend to send the letters and she kept those letter to teal box that a gift from her mother.
They have a family dinner with josh boyfriend of Margot, Margot was to inform her family that she will
go to Scotland to study their but that night josh and Margot got a fight that lead to break up. The other
day they go to airport have a farewell goodbye to Margot they felt sad that day because they are not
comfortable without Margot but they need to be comfortable because there have their own life. The
next day Lara jean and kitty was their first day in school Lara jean as a grade 11 student and kitty was
grade 6 students, their first day was worse because Lara jean not a good driver and kitty was afraid of
that, same day but at night they have a movie marathon but of course was kitty and Lara jean and that
night kitty teases Lara jean to have a boyfriend so that they will join them in watching movie and of
course to have a driver when they go to school. And then the following day kitty was made up her
decision to send all the letters.
The next morning Lara jean and Chris was in their P.E class but suddenly Peter Kavinksy appear that
he’s holding the letter that Lara jean was fainted at that time, but after she woke up peter ask Lara jean
why she wrote that letter Lara jean explain that is a long time ago but suddenly josh was walking
towards them and holding a love letter too but Lara jean kissed peter after that she explain why she
kissed him and he suggests that they should pretend to be a couple so that things can go back to normal
between her and Josh and so that Peter can make his ex-girlfriend Gen jealous. The next morning Peter
drove Lara jean and kitty to school. And that day also they made up a contract about their fake
relationship. And they pretend at school that their relationship was real. One night peter ask Lara jean to
go to a party and then at the party gen was also their they pretend again to fool Gen that their
relationship was real then at the party peter was at the restroom suddenly gen was appear and then she
ask why is Lara jean? And peter answers that why not? Then Peter left Gen in the rest room and then
Lara jean and peter went to the resto to have more conversation and then suddenly they have a
misunderstanding about Peter calling Gen after their break up but peter explain why and Lara jean was
understand that.
Along with their fake relationship they become more know each other because they share about
their personal life. After that conversation Lara jean was avoiding her sister voice call because she scared
about lying to her. At Lara jean house josh was there and asking a question about the letter and then
Lara jean explain it was a long time ago and if there is a chance to be with them they will not approved it
because josh was dated her sister before. On the ski trip, Peter tells Lara Jean that he has developed
feelings for her and that he wants them to be a real couple. After initially rejecting Peter’s advances,
Lara Jean finds him in the hot tub, gets in alongside him, and they kiss. The next day they back at the
school after the trip suddenly Gen confronted Lara jean about their relationship, Lara jean was pissed off
because she saw that her favourite crunches t is at gen and that they also peter and Lara jean was broke
up because of that. Lara jean came home she surprise because their house was decorated and that
Margot appear she missed her so much that night they prepare for their dinner but suddenly Peter was
knocking in their house she want to talk to Lara jean and in the middle of their conversation Josh
suddenly appear and also Margot they what they talking about and then Margot was pissed off about
what she hear, Lara jean was at her room and then suddenly a video appear it was their video that they
are kissing at the hot tub Lara jean was shocked she went at Margot house and explain everything to her
and Margot helped her to remove that video.
Suddenly kitty was appear and she confessed that she is the one who send the letter to the boys
Lara jean was about to kill kitty but Margot was their after that they all now have a deal that they don’t
hide a secret to each other. The next day, Peter’s ex-girlfriend Gen tells Lara Jean about rumours that
Peter and Lara Jean had sex in the hot tub. Mortified, Lara Jean blames Peter for the spread of the
rumours and refuses to speak to him. But peter speaks about that at the hallway and he clears
everything. Lara jean was in her room thinking about peters then suddenly Kitty enter her room reveals
that she has kept all of the notes that Peter sent to Lara Jean during the course of their fake relationship.
Reading back through the notes, Lara Jean realizes that she still has feelings for Peter and she begins to
write him another letter, at that moment she went to the school to see Peter. Peter was explained to
Lara jean about what happen on the ski trip and he confesses also that he want a real relationship with
Lara jean. And that was the book all about.
CONFLICT

Lara Jean explain why she writes love letters to boys that she has loved, it is her way of getting over
them, once she expressed her feelings on paper she feels she can move on and she does not intend to
send the letters and she kept those letter to teal box that a gift from her mother. Until the day she
discovers that her secret letters are not so secret any more. Because her younger sister kitty sent the
letters, All of the boys they appear. In result of that she struggles with her relationship with her older
sister and her past loves.
POINT OF VIEW

First point of view- because from the beginning and at the end of the story the main character (Lara
Jean) is the one who narrate the story.

THEME

The theme of the story was about love.
