The movie will start with Peter on his way back to home right after New York’s battle in
Avengers. After Loki being detained, he left the scene and never met the Avengers back. Peter
is stressed, confused, excited, angry. He didn’t really know why he had done it, why were there
aliens invading New York or why he almost instantly jumped to help the Avengers, even
though he had never met any of them. He didn’t also know why, even after saving a lot of
civilians and follow the exact orders Captain America gave him, the NYPD tried to arrest him
and felt so scared about him. He did also not know how a normal afternoon, where is plan was
to meet MJ at the library so they could study together and spend a great time with a friend
had turned into… well… into that. All he knew was that he had to do it, that it was the right
thing to do, that he could not look away, not again. He could have easily died, in fact, he was
close to death in more than one chance, but he also saved a lot of people, people that would
have never hugged their families again, people that would have suffered if it was not for him,
including Hawkeye, one of the Avengers.
Suddenly, his phone rings, it’s his Aunt May, calling him terrified for what she saw in the news.
She was crying, after what had happen to Ben, she could not lose him too. Peter calms her
down, after a brief conversation, Peter ends the call telling May he is almost at home. He puts
back his mask, and checks the phone one more time. One message received: MJ:” Where are
you Peter? Please answer…Please…”
Then the logo comes in with the main theme: “Spider-Man: Learning to Crawl”
9 months later
Peter is having a nightmare. He is back at that night. The night that changed his life. He sees
what he had seen for almost a month now. The same exact dream, the same exact feeling. He
is at home, right after a thief that he had previously let go entered and robbed his uncle and
aunt. He sees the scene, but he can’t move or talk: he is webbed to the wall. All he can do is
see how the thief shots his uncle, emptying the gun on his chest, for later looking at him just to
say “Thank you, you are my hero” and then shot one last time.
Peter wakes up covered by sweat and screaming, scaring everyone else on his class. He had
felt asleep in the middle of Mr. Warren’s lesson; he was tired after that last night of patrolling
Queens, for some reason, the criminals suddenly became more active. He looks around, seeing
some familiar faces: MJ looking at him worried, scared, Gwen and Harry confused and
wondering what is happening to him, although they could figure it out, almost a year passed
since his Uncle’s death, and that ghost is hunting him down. He also sees Flash, mocking and
laughing on his face, followed by the rest of the class. Lastly, he looks at Mr. Warren, who tells
him to go and wash his face, so he could pay attention to what’s left of his class.
The bell rings. While Peter is packing up his stuff, Flash pushes him away, throwing his
backpack and all his books to the ground, followed by a typical yet disgusting smile. Peter is
angry, but what could he do? He knows he could easily give Flash a lesson, that he could make
him pay for everything he had done to him. All those years of suffering, those mornings he
spent on his locker or all those public humiliations he received. But he could not do that, he
could not have revenge, it would not be fair for Flash, or for anyone. Suddenly, something
brings Peter back to the real world, a world where it was worth it to live in. Mary Jane Watson,
his neighbor since they were both eight years old, the one that has always being with him,
supporting and being part of everything he did, followed by Harry Osborn, the guy he met on
his first year of high school and that had become his best friend since then, and Gwen Stacy,
last year’s new student, a problematic and rebel girl that had a golden heart and always
protected his loved ones. Peter met him last year, after she defended him against Flash and
got expulsed on her first day of school, since then, they had both become very close friends.
Gwen had lost her mom on an accident recently, and his father’s work as a policeman didn’t
let him a lot of free time for her daughter, so the meals and dinners Peter, May and Gwen had
share in the last year were uncountable. Maybe the reason May have accepted Gwen so well
was that she needed it. Peter had been so absent due to his alter ego, and since Ben wasn’t at
home anymore, she started feeling lonely, but the constant visit from Gwen when her father
was working forged a strong relationship between the two women. But even after Gwen
spending more time at Peter’s house that on her own, he only had eyes for MJ, the angel that
had been with him since the very beginning.
Peter: “Nothing Gwen, leave him alone, I don’t want you to get in more trouble, you’ve already
done enough, thanks”
Harry: “Peter, you can’t let Flash win forever, he needs to learn a lesson”
Peter: “Harry, there is only two years left before we go to college, he will then go to the army
as he has stated several times, I will graduate on biochemistry and won’t see him again in my
whole life”
Gwen: “But the snob is right, you can’t stand this for two more years”
MJ: “And what about your little nap in class? You look tired Peter; you were screaming… what
were you dreaming about?”
Peter: “You know what it was about, and I don’t really want to talk about it, it’s just… almost a
year since he left… and I miss him a lot lately, but I’ll be fine”
Harry: “If you need us, you just have to call any of us and we’ll be on your door, you know it
right? We are your friends Pete, we know it’s a hard time, but we’ll help you to overpass it”
Crime in New York is something common these days. When superheroes first appeared, crime
rates started to drop, but shortly after, they started to be so busy with supervillains, Avengers
stuff or other things that kept them out of small crimes. Due to this, small criminals had started
a new wave of crimes, and those rates that once were so low started even surpassing the
numbers before Iron Man’s appearance. But, during the last year something had changed,
there was a new superhero that cared about normal people’s life. Not everyone agreed with
him, and not everyone supported what he was doing, but he was starting to be accepted by
some people. People whose hope came back thanks to him, people that, when they saw him
swinging or crawling through the city, they knew they were not seeing someone like Tony
Stark or the Captain America, they were seeing someone like them, a normal guy with a
normal life. Some people called him menace, some people called him bug, but some other
started calling him by the name he said: Spider-Man
But even though crime started to drop, it was still existing. This was the case of the bank haste
taking place right now, where a bunch of guys dressed as the Avengers have some hostages
inside. The police won’t enter, they don’t feel it’s safe for the people inside the bank, but as
soon as Spider-Man arrives, everything changes. Not all the policemen agree with Spidey, but
it is their only option. Police Captain gives order to Spider-Man about how to enter the bank
and stop the robbers the best way, and between the NYPD and Spider-Man, everything ends
quickly. But as soon as the last robber is detained, Colonel Williams and his team arrives the
scene.
Arthur Williams is a well-known colonel from the USA army. He has been in service for 30 years
now, and during this time he has proved his talent in battle many times, not only his skills on
weapons, but also in strategy. Since he was ascended to the colonel charge, he surely made
the difference and left his mark on the army. But since the last year, his goals have changed.
He fought against Loki’s army in New York 9 months ago, and saw Spider-Man in action. After
the Avengers saved the City, he became a true supporter of the team, seeing them in action
made him realize that, in this new world, there will be some menaces that he won’t be able to
take care of, and he will have to let the work to someone else. But he also saw Spider-Man,
and he didn’t need a lot of time to spot him as a young teenager on a onesie. His erratic
movements, his improvisation, there was no doubt he was trying to do something good, that
had a good intention, but his young age and inexperience made him more a problem than a
help. That’s why he started chasing him down. He didn’t know who Spider-Man was, but he
knows he will, and if he can’t find it out by investigating him, he will have to arrest the kid.
Spider-Man: “Good morning Colonel, long time I didn’t see ya, I already thought you would
leave me alone”
Colonel Williams: “You won’t have that luck, kid, been in bed for the last week, at my age colds
aren’t the same, but as soon as they told me you were here I started feeling much better…”
Spider-Man: “Well, sorry to tell you, but I’m not staying for too much, I’m late”
Colonel Williams: “You are going nowhere kiddo, I’ve got the place surrounded, snipers in all
the rooftops, as soon as you leap of that wall, you won’t be able to dodge all the tranquilizers.
Surrender now and save us some time, we don’t want to hurt you, although I won’t be sad if
we have to…”
Spider-Man: “Didn’t you say that last time we saw each other? And the previous one… and the
previous…”
Colonel Williams: “No matter how many battles you lose; a single victory can get you the war”
Spider-Man: “Well, you have to get that victory then, good luck!”
Peter jumps of the wall, starts swinging and dodging the tranquilizers the army was shooting
him, knocks down a couple of agents under Colonel’s orders and makes his way out of the
scene. It’s not something new for him, Colonel had been doing that almost for five months
now, and Pete had already got used to a new enemy, although he never fought back the
Colonel. He knew there was no point, he was doing his job, and he only wanted the good for
the people. Colonel was no supervillain, just someone that did not agree with him.
Normal scene
Peter’s house
Peter arrives home. It’s late night, and he enters slowly, since he doesn’t want to wake up his
aunt. The light turns on, and Peter sees May sited on the kitchen, with a cup of coffee and a
very serious expression.
Peter: ”I’m so sorry I…was studying and… I went to Harry’s house, and I didn’t realize about
time I- “
May: “You know we’ve been through a hard time Peter, since Ben… Things have not been easy.
I don’t want you to think I don’t see what you are doing, all the effort, all the things you are
dealing with at the same time: your studies, the job at Mr. Johnson’s shop, all the things in
your mind right now, it has to be complicated, and I could not be more proud, as well as Ben
would be, but you need to relax. You are becoming the man you will sometime be, and you are
getting way more responsibilities than the ones you should have, so you have to learn to deal
with them, not by ignoring them, but by having your priorities clear. Sometimes it is necessary
to share our charge, you can’t do everything by your own! Because, by doing that, you’ll end
up burning yourself, and what’s the point of giving your life to the people you love if you are
not there to live it with them? “
Peter: “I…don’t really know what to say…It is true that I might have been a bit away these
days, but how are you going to pay bills if I don’t work? Or Harry, Harry needs me, with the
exams coming… *As well as being Spider-Man, it is also consuming a lot of my time*”
May: “Peter, you have people here to help and support you, you can rely on them. I’ll be way
happier if you are here with me an afternoon and tell me how your day was at high school or
about those weird experiments you do downstairs in your lab than if you bring 20000$ per
month, and I’m sure Harry will understand that you can’t be all day every day at his house
helping him to study, maybe MJ could help him too”
They both hug each other, like they used to before everything started going wrong. It felt
warm for Peter, like…home. And while May was going upstairs, she says:
May: “And don’t you dare to come home after 22:30 young man, with all those horrible things
happening out there, especially with that Spider-Guy still free, it’s not safe”
Next Day
Harry’s House
Peter looks at the clock, 20:30, time to leave if he wanted to arrive home at time. He had
managed to be at home at 22:15 during the whole week, didn’t want to break that streak. He
packed his things, explained Harry the last exercise and put himself on the way out of the
Osborn’s house. Just when he was about to touch the door’s handle, his Spider-Sense tingles,
as a hand touches his shoulder. He rapidly turns away, looking for the menace. It didn’t take
him long: Norman Osborn, Harry’s dad and the president of the company that turned him into
Spider-Man. Norman took a step back, since Peter’s reaction surprised him, although he
immediately apologized for scaring the young man. Norman respected Peter, he had always
admired his actions, and always thanked him for helping Harry. He knew about what had
happened to Peter’s parents, as well as what happened to his uncle almost a year ago. Since
then, Norman always offered Peter help, offering him money, a job, or anything he asked for,
he wanted to be like a father to him, since he saw Peter as the son he would be proud of,
unlike Harry. Peter tried to act calm, but on the inside, he was very nervous. When he first met
Norman three years ago, when he went to Harry’s house for the first time, he didn’t mind
about him, in fact, he had always admired his work, but after spending more time with Harry,
and making his own research on Oscorp after one of its spiders gave him his powers, he
discovered the real man under that layer of kindness and that bloodcurdling smile: a man that
only cared about himself, about him and his legacy being on the top of the world, no matter
what or who he had to destroy to get it. Norman, on his side, wanted to keep Peter under
vigilance. He didn’t know about his alter ego, he didn’t even know Spider-Man came from one
of his experiments, that he belonged him, but he knew there was something strange with
Peter. He knew there was an accident when he and his class visited Dr. Connors’ lab, a lab that,
although it didn’t 100% belong to Oscorp, it was financed by them. Connors knew Peter, since
he met his parents, therefore, he decided not to tell Norman about all the details from the
accident, a decision that costed their funds. After a small conversation with Norman about
Harry’s performance at studies, he offered Peter payment for being Harry’s teacher, it wasn’t
the first time he did it, and neither was the first time Peter rejected his offer. He needed the
money, but he didn’t want it from a man that got it by stepping on other people, or something
even worse… Peter leaves the house, changes clothes and swings his way back home. He left
Harry’s house with time enough for stopping any crime he found on the way. He would soon
find a reason for not regretting this choice.
Peter hears the police sirens. They are not far from where he was, although it is out of the way
from home. Peter swings to the right and turns around, following the sirens sound and
reaching the place soon. There he sees a bunch of armed thieves leaving a tech store. They
weren’t a lot, but they had non common weapons, which alarmed Peter. Spider-Man jumps
into the scene, surprising the thieves, who use their weapons against him. The power of the
weapons surprised Peter, they were not normal guns, some kind of weird merged from them,
and they were made with very high tech. After webbing one of the four thieves, other one
shoots at Spider-Man and knocks him down, he jumps back rapidly, but not fast enough to
prevent the three guys left from entering the car and leave. Spidey starts chasing them as they
run. Swinging through the streets of New York, Spidey tries to get closer to the car, but the
thieves don’t hesitate in using the guns against him, which causes collateral damage on the city
and puts in danger some civilians. Spidey ignores the thieves for a moment, so he can save a
family that is about to be hit by a falling streetlight. After putting them in safe, he comes back
to the chase. Once he reaches the car, he webs the thieves inside the car for then stopping it
with his own hands. Everything had ended. After making sure the car’s engine has stopped, he
reaches the thieves he webbed some seconds before, so he can talk to them and try to find out
where the weapons came from. He sees a common sign in all of them: they all have a scorpion
tattooed on their necks. Spidey tries to make them talk, but a police agent arrives: it’s agent
Stacy, aiming his gun at Spidey, telling him to freeze. A moment after, one of the screens in the
street crashes and starts falling apart. Spider-Man says he have to go, Stacy hesitates, telling
him to come back once he is done, but Spidey answers saying that they both knew that won’t
happen. With no time to think, Stacy puts his gun down and Spider-Man runs to save the
people on the streets, webbing the screen and putting everyone away from the danger, once
he saves the last one and the police arrives, he leaves and leads in direction to Queens.
Gwen: “I… I don’t know Pete, I called my dad two hours ago, he was supposed to be at home
but he is not picking up the phone. I didn’t know what to do so I came here and… Peter… do
you think he is fine? Do you think he is…?”
Gwen jumps and hugs his father, as Peter and May look at each other. They are both glad
Gwen’s dad his fine, they knew how the girl had suffered about her mom, and they didn’t want
any more surprises. As everything is more calmed, George thanks the Parkers for their help
and leaves. Gwen is already in the car, waiting for his dad.
George: “I really can’t thank you enough for what you have been doing for Gwen, I’m really
glad she met you when we arrived here”
Peter: “Thanks Mr. Stacy, we are just helping a friend out, there is nothing to thank for”
George: “There was an incident in Times Square, Spider-Man chasing a bunch of thieves that
were robbing something some blocks away. Luckily, no one was hurt”
Peter: “I´m glad you caught those guys, and that Spider-Man was there to help”
George: “We didn’t, Spider-Man did web those guys, but after that, someone broke one of the
screens and, while we were all distracted making sure no one was hurt, the same person
released the thieves”
Peter: “What?”
George: “Some witnesses say they saw a guy dressed as a Scorpion, but there is nothing official
yet. You seem to like that Spider-guy”
Peter: “Well… he tries to help people; I don’t think he is one of the bad guys or a menace as
the Bugle says”
George: “A bad guy? Of course not, a menace? I wouldn’t be so sure. He is a kid, I like what his
intentions are, I wouldn’t mind having an ally like him, but he needs to be taught. If policemen
join the department after years of training is for a reason, a teenager dressed up on clothes he
found on the back of his closet should not be able to go out there and “help” the people. It’s
dangerous, and irresponsible.”
