Intercultural communication is commonly explained as an interaction between people of

different cultures. The idea of culture, communication and intercultural communication are the
comprehension of the connection among culture and communication. The reason why we should know
it because it is self-awareness. That is mean we become more certain to speak with various culture by a
superior understanding of other culture. At this point when we know a great deal about the intercultural
communication, it makes us simpler to step outside to look the other country without worry over
misconception and how to manage them.

Today, as the globalization and diversity in workplace and various social environment become
more rampant, it is unavoidable for cultures to meet, blend, and clash. Therefore, we have to be more
careful in communicating other with different cultures. We have to maintain our etiquettes wherever we
go or whatever environment we’re in, it is important to observe our etiquettes. Many cultures have
specific etiquette regards in addressing someone. Taro met so many company executives and he is
surprised that Filipino doesn’t have a business card, but in their country, it is impossible for them not to
exchange business card specially in business meeting. We also need to show culture empathy, we have
to understand and be aware of the cultural attributes of a society and how they differ from other
culture. If you know that you’ll have to interact with other people of different cultural background, it is
best to do basic research on their culture in order to avoid anything they might perceive as
inappropriate or offensive like Taro when he reprimand the staff, the staff become emotional, it is
because some Filipino doesn’t have the capable to accept some words they thrown to them.

Also, if you experience interacting with people with other culture, if you go back to your own
place, you can share your experience to your friends so that if they also want to cross country, they
knew some information or knowledge about the culture in other county.

people with different age, gender and cultures and believes and perspective. Conversation with this
people may contradict with each other’s thoughts. But sometimes, we can’t escape from people with
different stands and perspectives, but why do we have to escape if we can find solution. The solution in
interacting other with different cultures is a good and effective communication. This time, each of us can
more understand the difference of other cultures.
