Psychology Reflection Essay

The reason I chose this assignment was because I have ADHD and I wanted to learn

more about this disorder. I learned quite a lot from this assignment. For one while researching, I

found out that ADHD and autism have things in common with one another. While ADHD is not

on the spectrum, it was interesting to know. Also, it was interesting to learn that people with

ADHD have a smaller amount of dopamine and norepinephrine.

I liked that for this assignment we could choose the topic that we wanted to do. Most

projects that I have done have strict rules on essay papers, so being about to write about the thing

that I am interested in helped keep my attention. The guidelines for this assignment were also

easy to read, making my writing and ideas be more organized throughout the assignment.

Even though this assignment has been written and turned in, I still am learning more

about ADHD and how it impacts other people. I joined a group of people who also suffer from

ADHD and there are also some people who have autism in the group too. This helps me

understand how ADHD affects other people’s day to day life.

I would say that this assignment taught me that just because someone acts a certain way,

does not mean that they are completely different. ADHD isn’t a disability that people can see just

by one look, but it really affects the way we do things. I know some people who have issues with

school work and reading because their brain just doesn’t process it at a normal speed. It’s sad

that most people don’t fully understand how these people’s lives are affected, but I hope that the

small amount of people that read my assignment will get a better understanding at why these

people act the way they do.
