what each of those terms are and how they affect warranty coverage.

Scene Number : 80511170 - Warranty Start Dates

A warranty start date is the date on which the record of hours, kilometers, mileage or time limits for
product warranty begins.
The procedure for determining the start date of a warranty varies by application. Let's take a few
moments to discuss the warranty start dates for the various applications that use Cummins engines.
Refer to the applicable warranty coverage for details on determining the warranty start date.

Failure codes are six letter codes used to identify the component that has failed and the nature of the
failure.

The first two letters identify the engine system,

the second two letters identify the system component and

the third two letters identify the mode of the failure.

The importance of using the correct failure code is critical for accurate warranty reimbursement and to
the factory engineers for analysis and durability tracking.
