How does Ayushman Bharat hope to change the relationship between business and society in

achieving better healthcare outcomes?

The scheme target to provide annually Rupess 5 lakh per family for health related issues. It is
targeting above 100 million who belongs to poor and weaker sections families based on Socio-
Economic Caste Census (SECC) database. Public health scheme penetration is very low in India.
According to survey it is known that 80% of the population does not have health coverage. In 2017,
4,375 lakh person are only under health insurance in India.

Only 1.25% of its GDP is spend on Health care by India. It can be said that if government can
implement Ayushmann Bharat-National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM) effectively, then it will
have positive long lasting effect on India health care and insurance ecosystems.

The effective and efficient implementation of the scheme will definitely have a positive impact on
reducing out-of-pocket expenditure. Government also put forward their argument that vulnerable
and poor section of the people will have health insurance. As pre the discussion by the eminent
speaker in the session Madhya Pradesh has highest infant mortality rate along with other state. In
order to address this, issue their needs to be a scheme like Ayushmaan Bharat which will cater to the
health needs of the mother during the child birth period. Also the scheme covers all secondary and
some of the tertiary hospitalizations. This will result in more access of facilities like quality education
and medication to poor people. This will lead to proper treatment and improvement health situation
outcome.

Some of the challenges that government will need to face is that they will have to maintain a right
infrastructure. Also the need for new bed capacity will increase. There will be at least 33% of the
population who will be availing first health insurance coverage.

As per the speaker we should give more importance to the health sector which will help in creating a
better future. Through my reflection note I would state that Aysuhmaan bharat is one good step
towards this as this scheme will give priority to girl child, women and senior citizens and cover all
pre-existing diseases. It is also cashless and paperless registration which will broaden the scheme
network.
