Karnataka Biodiversity Board (KBB) plans to conduct an awareness workshop for the Industries
based in and around Mysore on 27th October, 2018, 9.30 am at Rotary auditorium Opp.MUDA
JLB Road Mysuru. It is aimed for those who are using biological resources for commercial
utilization on the Compliance of Biological Diversity Act 2002 and its Access and Benefit
sharing provisions as part of UNEP-GEF-MoEF-ABS Project on ‘Strengthening the
implementation of the Biological Diversity Act 2002 with focus on its ABS provisions’ which is
implemented in the Board along with nine other states across India.

The workshop highlights in brief the key provisions of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, about
the implementing bodies, Access and Benefit Sharing mechanism and penal provisions of the
Act. The workshop will be conducted exclusively for the Companies/Entities/Firms with an
objective to create awareness on the Act and try linking them to biodiversity conservation with
an overall objective to create an impact on the society at large in carrying forth the objectives of
the Act.

The workshop wishes to have participations from all the industries using biological resources.
Karnataka Biodiversity Board regularly conducts awareness workshops like this to realize the
broader objective of conservation, sustainable utilization and equitable sharing of benefits among
the users of biological resources.
