CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

SOCIAL WORK
Social work is an academic and professional discipline that seeks to facilitate the welfare
of communities, individuals, families, and groups. It may promote social change, development,
cohesion, and empowerment. Underpinned by theories of social sciences and guided by principles
of social justice, human rights, collective responsibility, and respect for diversities, social work
engages people and structures to address life challenges and enhance well-being.

A practicing professional with a degree in social work is called a social worker. Examples
of fields a social worker may be employed in are poverty relief, life skills, social skills,
community development, rural development, urbanization adjustment, forensics, corrections,
legislation, industrial relations, social inclusion, child protection, elder protection, women's rights,
human rights, social rejection management, addictions rehabilitation, moral development, cultural
mediation, disaster management, mental health, behavior therapy and disabilities.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Corporate social responsibility, often abbreviated "CSR," is a corporation’s initiatives to assess

and take responsibility for the company's effects on environmental and social wellbeing. The term
generally applies to efforts that go beyond what may be required by regulators or environmental
protection groups.

CSR may also be referred to as "corporate citizenship" and can involve incurring short term costs
that do not provide an immediate financial benefit to the company, but instead promote positive

social and environmental change.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Based on the assumptions that women differ from men in their social positions and that those
differences consist of asymmetric, unequal power relations between the genders, “women’s
empowerment” refers to the process of increasing women’s access to control over the strategic
life choices that affect them and access to the opportunities that allow them fully to realize their
capacities. Women’s empowerment as an economic, political, and sociocultural process
challenges the system of sexual stratification that has resulted in women’s subordination and
marginalization in order to improve women’s quality of life.Women's empowerment is the
process of empowering women.Empowerment can be defined in many ways, however, when
talking about women's empowerment, empowerment means accepting and allowing people
(women) who are on the outside of the decision-making process into it.

Women’s empowerment is the most crucial point to be noted for the overall development of a
country. Many celebrities are all for girl power such as Liza Koshy and Lilly Singh (who has her
own late night show and has won many awards and also raised money for #girllove and other
charities) “This puts a strong emphasis on participation in political structures and formal decision-
making and, in the economic sphere, on the ability to obtain an income that enables participation
in economic decision-making.” Empowerment is the process that creates power in individuals
over their own lives, society, and in their communities. People are empowered when they are able
to access the opportunities available to them without limitations and restrictions such as in
education, profession and lifestyle. Feeling entitled to make your own decisions creates a sense of
empowerment. Empowerment includes the action of raising the status of women through
education, raising awareness, literacy, and training and also give training related to defence
ourself . Women's empowerment is all about equipping and allowing women to make life-
determining decisions through the different problems in society.

Aim: The aim of this report is to discuss about the importance of women empowerment.
APPROCHES TO DEVELOPMENT

The importance of women empowerment is real. Whilst we’re fighting the gender pay gap and
sexual liberation in the West, other women around the world are still fighting to not be forced into
marriage, to be allowed to go to school, to even be allowed out of the house by themselves for
example, and to receive the most important thing of all: empowerment.I have seen first hand in
India , how empowering women in local communities, allowing their skills and talents to shine is
life-changing.Often, women do not have the resources or the access to education or employment
to gain economic independence and empowerment.Equal access to education and job-training is
absolutely essential and the key to taking a society to the next level.

There are various ways in how one can empower women. The individuals and government must
both come together to make it happen. Education for girls must be made compulsory so that
women can become illiterate to make a life for themselves.Women must be given equal
opportunities in every field, irrespective of gender. Moreover, they must also be given equal pay.
We can empower women by abolishing child marriage. Various programs must be held where
they can be taught skills to fend for themselves in case they face financial crisis.
CHAPTER 2

the full development of women to enable them to realize their full potential.

We learned that Women empowerment is one of the most important things that need
to be in the world.
We got many information like, Women can be empowered through education, equal
opportunities, equal pay, and free to do what they want to do.
We can identify many students having social awareness on women empowerment by
organizing the project in successful manner.
We are highly benefited by social project by making all arrangements like:
Inviting students to actively participate in this awareness program.
creating attractive posters to engage the students and inviting many
participants through social media
Students have been given a open forum to interact with our guest which will make
the session more attractive.

We are so enough most of them don’t even know the depth of the business are
entrepreneurship.
We are experiencing just the lesson and we are not getting real time experience
with regard to women empowerment.
We are reading things and getting knowledge of certain things only by words or
text that is written in books or by knowing others experience.
Here she is also one person who sharing her real time and personal experience. This
is really beneficiary for the students to know about the women empowerment.

CHAPTER 6

CONCLUSION
The primary objectives of this project is to know about the women empowerment.
Formal equality is not enough for achieving equality in outcomes, substantive
equality is essential. The gender gaps globally and in india are higher in economic
and political than education and health. Women represent half the world’s
population, and gender inequality exists in every nation on the planet. Until women
are given the same opportunities that men are entire societies will be destined to
perform below their true potentials.
Awareness program on women empowerment plays a important role in motivating
the students. The students from kongu engineering college have actively
participated in our awareness program. The outcome of the project is to know about
the women empowerment.
