preceding numbers to achieve the next number. Looking at this intriguing concept has made me relate it to
human life, how the decisions and choices we have made in the past determine our present, and ultimately our
future. This builds the theory that we are the result of our choices, thus reiterating the notion that we are in
control of our life at all times. Being a firm believer of this archetype, I have done my best to shape my life in
accordance with my aspirations, which significantly revolve around my profound admiration for the marvel of
mathematics. Having always been fascinated by mathematical theories, I perpetually try to apply them in real
life. Linking theories with mathematical figures and quantifying them allows me to have a better understanding
of things, thus triggering my urge to pursue a career in the field of mathematics. Therefore, I believe studying
Actuarial Science would indeed fulfil my passion and challenge me on a whole new level.

I have selected Advanced-Level subjects that will enable me to study Actuarial Science. Physics has taught me
critical analysis and profound understanding of the physical world. For instance, the laws of Newtonian
Mechanics exist all around us, which make physics homogenous to the worldly functions. Economics laid
down the foundations for me to conceive the patterns and the reasons behind the working mechanisms of the
world economy, most of which are a product of numerous mathematical models brought together. Mathematics
and Further Maths have left me awestruck at the remarkable ability of mathematics to be a fundamental force
to the functionality of everything in the universe, and will particularly aid me in my pursuit of actuarial
science; allowing me to logically forecast the financial potential of commodities and events, thus aiming to
minimize the monetary risk for the unforeseen future.

Being an actuary requires strong mathematical skills, and excellent judgment, leadership and organizational
skills, topped by utmost dedication and an industrious attitude. My extracurricular activities, along with my
academic ones, have made considerable acquisition of such attributes. I have been a sprinter and football
player at college-level for more than three years and am currently performing my duties as the Captain of The
Lyceum School's football team. This has developed my leadership skills both on and off the field; it has
enhanced my interpersonal skills, enabled me to make the most out of difficult situations and to obtain the
maximum benefit from resources at hand. Moreover, as Head of Mathematics Society of my college, I've been
working closely with the administration handling the paperwork and setting up weekly meetings, during which
we solve various famous mathematical quizzes such as Einstein's five-house riddle, discuss academic topics,
and have productive debates on documentaries we watch.

Being an enthusiast, I have taken part in several national and international mathematical forums and
competitions. I have been ranked in the top 100 of the world on a few occasions in the 'World Maths Day'
competitions, securing 11th position in October 2015. I have read through philosophical transcripts of Jean
Paul Sartre and Terence McKenna, while also have been an active member of the photography society at
college, both of which have enable me to view life through different perspectives and lenses, which have
proved to be an important trait for me.

I ardently believe that my personal growth is an integral part of my societal growth, making it imperative that I
contribute to my society. I have done so by volunteering at Sindh Institute of Transplant and Urology and The
Indus Hospital, both of which provide free medical treatment. As the famous philosopher, Aristotle, said
“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all”; thus I consider it important to keep
balance in educating both, as it’s the only way to create a true human being, which I strongly aspire to be.
