Module 2 Assignment – Dietary Guidelines and ChooseMyPlate evaluation of Case Study.

Jack is a businessperson at 54 years old who is lightly active and busy with work.  At his annual checkup
his height and weight were recorded as 5 feet 10 inches tall and 210 pounds. His blood lipid profile
indicated that he was at risk for heart disease.  His doctor sent Jack to a dietitian who initially evaluated
his food intake and helped him compare his results to the Dietary Guidelines and ChooseMyPlate
recommendations.  A typical day's food intake is listed below.  Use a diet analysis program like
NutritionCalc Plus or ESHAtrak to enter the foods, review the reports generated revealing the nutrient
intake, and answer the questions that follow in this assignment.

Breakfast

 scrambled eggs (USDA), 2 ea

 bacon, pork, pan fried, (USDA), 2 slice

 bread, wheat, toasted,  (USDA), 2 slice

 margarine, 80% fat,  (USDA), 1 Tbs

 green beans, boiled, from frozen, drained (USDA) , 0.5 cup

 gravy, golden pork, canned (USDA: Campbell's), 0.25 cup


 bread, soft white (USDA) , 1 ea

 iced tea, unsweetened (Lipton), 16 fl-oz

 cookie, chocolate chip, soft (USDA), 2 ea

Snacks - consumed throughout the day
