Reflection
These Affective tools are helpful, in a way that it tells you about the personal feelings of
the students – what they truly learned, how they behave in classroom and if they are
having a hard time coping with the lesson. It also allows you to be informed with the
progress they have made, enabling you as their teacher to take actions and guide them,
where they felt unmotivated and uninterested. As we used these different tools in
affective assessment, we will be aware of our students holistically- their behavior,
intelligence, and social skills (Cagas, A., 2020).
I realized that affective tools is important for us, future teachers because it will provide
us an idea on how can we improve our teaching strategies to make the content
interesting and essential for their values development. Affective tools also help
strengthen their cognitive and psychomotor learning because it will help the students
reflect on their beliefs and motivations for learning social studies. The nature of the
subject itself requires students to develop empathy towards the marginalized people in
the society such as the PWDs, LGBTQ+, immigrants, ethnic minorities and the like. The
affective tools would also minimize the subjectivity of what is being measured since
criteria and indicators are specified (Selma, P. K. B. N., 2020)
