I have learned so much new information due to this class.

I have also heard and known of

things such as alcohol, marijuana, tobacco, etc. I never knew the truth about any of these subjects
though. For example, when I think of these things I am quick to think about how we see these
things in our everyday lives, in the US. This is not just a problem here. These are all huge issues
across the globe. For some reason I was really arrogant in thinking these were just problems here
and that this didn't exist outside of where we live. It is easy to think somewhere is better when all
you see from these other countries is their amazing spots to visit for traveling and things like
that. No one ever really thinks about how their lives really might be like. We all assume perhaps
it's a fairy tale based on the beautiful places their country has to offer. This has changed my
perspective in a really good way. Now I see my life in a better way from this class. You don't
know what you had till you lose it is a great example of what I am trying to say. This class and
the videos that we have had to watch showed me some of the horrible things that people have to
go through. I remember when we watched the video on cocaine and how these people made it.
They would work all day for nothing basically. They take all these risks to make this drug they
don't even use for maybe 14 dollars a day. In the United states I think hardly anyone would work
for 14 dollars a day. Another crazy example that really put things into perspective for me was
Indonesia. I can't imagine, no matter the type of person someone is, it would be hard there to say
no to smoking. It is crazy for me to think of going anywhere in salt lake and constantly being
offered cigarettes. That would be so horrible. Not to mention if someone brought another life
into this world, now their children have to deal with this. Imagine trying to protect your child
against something that you really can't.

It's crazy to think the effect this class has actually had on me. This class has given me a
lot more gratitude for the life I have. Most people I think just learn more about drugs from this
class or just don’t really care. This definitely affected me more than most college classes have. It
has not only taught me so much but really has changed my perspective like I explained earlier. I
have known people who have addiction issues no matter what the addiction is, so I know first
hand how horrible these drugs really are. They not only ruin that person's life, but affect many
others extremely. After this class I have seen that these dangerous things can do way more than
just affect a few. They affect countries in many cases. It honestly blew my mind that this is a
reality. I don't know how or when but we need to attempt to put an end to drugs somehow. Drugs
have a hold on many people and many countries. It is sad this world has come to a point that it is
all about the money. Maybe that is how it has been all along. If this class has taught me anything
it is that we need to get over that and start focusing on our well being as a whole. In a way many
could argue drugs run this world. In some ways it really does. This has caused people only pain
so this thirst for money has to stop. Many people suffer from cancer and many other horrible
health issues. Drugs are a huge factor of this. Imagine there was no such thing as drugs. Can you
imagine how much those numbers would drop. Who knows, many cancers even originated from
drugs you never really know. Cancers alone are a big enough deal to put things like drugs to an
end. Many lives could recover and get better if this is something that we could all make a reality.
It would definitely make the world a better place.
