Beliefs about Assessment assignment

Throughout my years in school I found assessments to be one of the most beneficial

tools in education. If you really think about it there's alot information about a student you
can gather just by the results of an assessment. Not all of them have to be used as a
test or quiz and even multiple choice they’re are plenty other ways of assessments that
can benefit students and also provide teachers data. Some assessments that have
stuck out to me were essays, jeopardy and group discussions. What made me enjoy
these assessments was it allowed me to express myself in the material we were
learning and that it would help me get a grasp of understanding. Before the big test I
found jeopardy a very useful tool because not only do students get to have fun with it
but it's also preparing you for the bigger picture of the assessment which is the test. It
also helps teachers gather data to see how much you know as students before taking
the test, so that they can help you in the areas you struggle most at. What makes an
assessment effective to me is that it has to be aligned to goals, engaging and gives
back feedback. When an assessment aligned to goals it gives a student a sense of
urgency when it comes to learning the material. Also by engaging it helps students
become more confident and gives them different points of views from peers so that the
answers aren't just listed off of your biased thoughts. I feel as all schools should require
assessments because that's what makes lessons so effective because how else would
you know what a student has learned what you're teaching them if they're not assessed
on the material being taughtMost importantly every assessment needs feedback that
allows a student to see where they are at as far as strengths and weaknesses, can help
the teacher help focus on certain points that students do worst at so they can improve to
do better.
