School Year 2020 is such a big challenge and an exciting event for all
stakeholders. Unity was vividly seen before the first day of school. A two day
preparation was conducted by the school for the packing of students learners bag ,
careful inspection of the learners bag per barangay , decorate the drop off area per
barangay , communicate with the barangay officials as to their roles and responsibilities
in the new normal , and lastly conduct the delivery of learners bag which we call TGIF
as reflected in our School Learning Continuity Plan.
The official opening of classes held on October 5 , 2020 was such a pleasure.
Teachers were very excited to monitor the students , entertain queries regarding the
lessons and get to know them and guide them. Each call and conversation between
teachers and students are recorded in the students performance notebook provided by
the school and teachers class record. Since there wont be face to face classes it is
important to always monitor students through text , call , chat , viber , various social
media platforms , home visitation , and in all ways possible to still ensure learning will
take place despite this pandemic.
Weekly meetings are also conducted per strand to guarantee that the concerns
of the teachers are properly addressed, clarity of instruction will be properly
disseminated. Weekly printing of learners activity sheet and sorting of learners bag was
also prepared and checked for quality assurance a day before the conduct of TGIF.
As we go through with all the preparation in this new normal, as a teacher , I
have realized the value and importance of patience because the turn of events and the
adjustments are new and continuously changing , cooperation is extremely necessary
for the improvement and welfare of all stakeholders , flexibility is greatly practiced and
passion in one’s work was delivered. Indeed , education cannot wait. Despite this
pandemic that we are facing, education must not stop. Whatever the circumstance is
Deped is the last one to surrender.

This week, our city decided to have a 2-week lockdown due to the rising number
of covid positive patients. The school obediently followed the memorandum and gave us
two weeks work from home scheme for the time being. The school assured the safety
and welfare of the teachers. During this time, daily monitoring of students as well as the
printing of learner’s activity sheet was done at home. While monitoring the students, I
learned to stretch my patience as wide as possible. Hearing the situation of each
student, it touched my heart how persistent and determined they are to continue
learning despite the fear and financial constraints brought by this pandemic.
Encouragement and inspiration must be given by the teachers for the future of the
students. Most students choose to juggle both work and studying to help parents who
lost their work because of this pandemic. Most students don’t want to prioritize their
studies anymore and thought it’s not important or a priority. They need understanding
and assistance the most in this time and as teachers it is our responsibility to help them
and guide them in all ways. Communication is very important and reaching out to them
is a priority.

This week various activities took place such as careful inspection of learners bag
to be delivered per drop off area/barangay , meeting in preparation for SBM , SLAC
Session, printing and checking of learners activity sheet and participate in watching the
virtual platform for the awarding ceremony for regional awardees.
In observance of the DOH Protocol, all teachers assigned in the delivery of
modules are given face masks , face shield , hand gloves , alcohol and thermal scanner
to ensure safety of teachers, parents who will get the learners bag and of course the
barangay officials. Protection of the teachers and the welfare of the stakeholders is the
school’s top priority. Our health must not be neglected. To do our job well we must learn
how to take care of our self. I have learned that loving our work also means loving our
self first.
While watching the awarding of the most outstanding regional awardees, I have
learned to be happy for the success of others. To be a good team player one must
realize how to encourage and cheer for your workmates. Learn from them and take
inspiration from their work and over-all journey. Success is hard work and through their
hard work, passion and determination they can achieve anything. For our school the
regional awardee was Mr. Danilo Jadulco hailed as the Most Outstanding Master
Teacher. His dedication to his work is extremely remarkable. He is truly an inspiration to
the SPNHS Family and in the whole region.

This week I have learned about time management. A skill every teacher must
master. We cannot deny that our work requires us to perform well despite our work
loads. Being flexible is also a must. In this regard , taking notes , budgeting of time ,
division of labor and collaboration is needed in the group. All must participate in making
and finishing each task.
