Project 2
Multimodal Brainstorm
We are most interested in discussing denialism, species extinction, environmental justice,
sustainability, or food insecurity. We can address concerns and argue these facets of climate
change through humor with a social analytical perspective. To argue our point in an amicable
fashion, we will refer to memes, podcasts, blogs and talk shows.
Our first idea is to assemble a video or podcast inspired by a talk/radio show to examine
the topic. This artifact will target a broad audience that ranges from individuals with strong
interests towards climate change or none at all. It would be published in a mainstream platform
like Youtube or Vimeo in order to reach the desired audience. Another idea is to construct an
integrated website with videos, images and articles to communicate opinions and perspectives
about the theme. Because this artifact is intended to be published on the internet, it will be
designed for all types of audiences, from opposers to supporters of the stance. This could be
coded by hand, or through companies like Weebly or Medium.
Additionally, we are considering designing comic strips targeted for a young audience (5
to 10-years-old). Representing scientific and social research about climate change in a digestible
and graphic way will help raise awareness on the matter in the generations to come. Ideally, this
will be issued in educational publications in an online format. Lastly, we could produce a
research paper targeted towards the academic community arguing different perspectives on the
topic and its impact on society. This would be ideally published in an academic social network
like Academia or IJSRET.
