DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN BUSINESS

The goal of this research is to evaluate the effect on organizations of their business model of

digital transformation. All the components of an enterprise undergo digital transformation but

to this date there is no research that has been conducted to analyze the impact of digital

transformation and so this study is very important to bring about the effects of it on the

organization. Only basic components, single sectors, or the individual underlying

technologies were the subject of previous research. In addition, the findings of this study can

be used by companies as a reference point to validate their business cases. Only one in four

companies are able to successfully recognize key metrics of efficiency, including return on

investment, since only one out of half build business cases.

6.1.1 The concept of Digital Transformation

A specific concept of digital transformation is required in order to define the effects of digital

transformation. The digital transformation in certain technologies and certain changes of the

organizations were not brought out completely in the definitions provided in the other studies

that is undergone on this topic. This research helps literature and practice by identifying

digital transitions that both address technical and transformational aspects of the concept. The

digital transformations are driven certain digital technologies such as Social, Mobile,

Analytics and cloud and this has been brough tout by various researches done before. In

addition, the seven different aspects with an effect threshold is provided by Lucas et al.

(2013). A technology induced transition classifies as transformational when three or more of

these thresholds are passed. The following concept comes to the convergence of technical and

transformative aspects. Digital Transformation is social, mobile, analytical or cloud-induced

change, with major effects on individual, business and/or societal three or more dimensions.

New waves of emerging technologies that drive digital transformation could and probably

will, occur in the near future. As just that, the emerging technologies that come within the
concept of digital transformation will evolve and the meaning of digital transformation would

change accordingly. Furthermore, the dimensions of and effect requirements suggested by

Lucas et al. (2013) should be addressed. There is no question that this concept will evolve

and change in the coming years as further research is done to characterize technological

progress.
