Idea:- TRIMMING THE IMPELLER DIA FROM 445 MM TO 425 MM IN

COLD WATER PUMP FOR POWER SAVING

PROBLEM:
Cold water pump trips when
discharge valve is opened at 100%.
SOLUTION:
On studying it was found that the
motor full load current is 150A which
reaches when the pump discharge
valve is opened at 75%.It was found
that the impeller size is more than the
required size. The impeller was BEFORE
decided to be trimmed from existing
445mm to 425mm.
BENEFITS:
i) Cold water pump tripping avoided.
ii) Energy saving of 107.8MW worth
