Dear Sir/Mam,
I wish to submit an original article entitled “MECHANICAL CHARACTERIZATION
AND THERMAL ANALYSIS OF AMMONIUM NITRATE BASED SOLID PROPELLANT
FOR GAS GENERATORS”. I confirm that this work is original and has not been published
elsewhere, nor is it currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. In this paper, I report
on / show that 04/12/2020. An effort had been made to reduce the hygroscopicity nature of
Ammonium nitrate, one of its undesirable characteristics during project phase I. Two coating
additives, Mineral jelly and Calcium stearate had been chosen and sample propellants with
coating additive were prepared separately. The observation showed that propellant coated with
5% of Calcium stearate found to be considerably reduces the hygroscopicity nature. The thermo
analytical behavior of calcium stearate coated NH4NO 3 had also been analysed using
Simultaneous Thermal Analyzer (STA). Low energy characteristics are another undesirable
natural trait of Ammonium nitrate and are to be sorted out. Ammonium dichromate, a burning
catalyst is used to improve the burning characteristics of the composition. Three different
compositions are prepared such that coated AN/HTPB, coated AN/ADC/HTPB and coated
AN/GN/ADC/HTPB. The DSC analysis for those samples is done at three different heating rates
(5 K/min, 8K/min and 16 K/min) using Simultaneous Thermal Analyzer (STA) and from
chemical kinetics, activation energy for the samples is estimated. Also, the dynamic mechanical
properties are determined using Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA). Hence, I kindly submit
