Negative side of celebrating anniversary

- Danger of man-centeredness

The challenge for us to reminded to be God-focused.

CCF’s mission:
To honor God and make Christ-committed followers who will make Christ-committed followers

The Great Commission: Matthew 28:18-20

Nobody has the authority over all heaven and earth but God.

Jesus has no equal. Example: He has authority over sickness.

The Convictions of the Great Commission

Belief – intellectual agreement; head knowledge

Conviction – embracing the belief to be so passionate about it

The Lordship of Jesus

- The Great Commission is anchored on the Lordship of Jesus.
- Our God is Global; and our mission is Global

Disciple – student, follower, learner

We are to make committed followers.

To make disciples means we need to help the person become Christ-like.

The conviction of Making Disciples

Discipleship makes sure that the followers of Jesus are not deceived into a belief that Christianity
is just any other religion.

See Matthew 7:22-23

Christianity should not be a religion.

Discipleship involves the transformation of the heart and involves a change in the attitude
towards the Lordship of Jesus.

Daving Livingstone – If an order/commission of an earthly king is an honor, how can the

commission of the Lord be a sacrifice?

Discipleship leads to multiplication.

If the Philippines ought to be transformed, the best way is through discipleship.

The Great Commission is about discipleship and multiplication.

Until we understand the Great Commission, humanity is at lost.

The conviction of the Lostness of Humanity

Luke 19:10

Lost – separation, death, disconnect

The whole world took a pause because of Covid19.

John Ortberg - Sin is, somehow, at the root of all human misery. Sin is what keeps us from God
and from life. It is in the face of every battered woman, the cry of every neglected child, the
despair of every addict, the death of every victim of every war.

See Romans 3:23

See Romans 6:23

See Luke 16:19-26 (Lazarus’ story)

Two scenarios after death:

- Before the presence of God
- Away from the presence of God

The Conviction that People Need Jesus

Russia announced the vaccine for Covid19. A Russian publication says the announcement was
necessary because it is unethical to not share before the world that the cure is available.

Notice that in the Bible, the Great Commission was necessary because it is an announcement that
there is an antidote to sin.

See Acts 4:12

- No salvation in no one else

Jesus died for us.

See Colossians 1:13-14

- In Jesus we have redemption and forgiveness

The greatest need of humanity is Jesus.

The greatest problem is our heart.

Testimony of Henry Sy Jr.

Have you experienced the salvation offered by Jesus Christ? Not as a religion but as a lifestyle.

The cure for our heart is Jesus.

The conviction of God’s Lasting Presence

God is always with us even to the end of the age.

Our mission: Make Disciples

His promise: His presence

When you love somebody, you want

God’s presence is our greatest security and comfort

The conviction of God’s presence.

Testimony of Albit Rodriguez (about his wife’s death due to cancer and his wife’s readiness to
meet Jesus)

God loves us and He is with us.

Take the Great Commission seriously.

Closing prayer(s)

Closing song: The Love of God

Sunday Fasttrack:
1. How do we guard ourselves from Christ-less discipleship? Shift from ministry-focused
instead of love-relationship with God.
2. How does true success in discipleship look like? Transformation of the heart is the
evidence.
3. How can we deal with rejections? Fulfilling Christ’s commission is a challenge; but we
need to be reminded that God’s presence is with us. Be reminded that it is not our job to
convert and transform others. It is God’s work; God’s department to change heart. Our
duty is to love others. We need to avoid pressurized discipleship.
4. What are your biggest learnings in your discipleship journey? God is control. Our role is
to do our part. Let God be God and live a life that is pleasing to God. Pursue a ‘relaxed-
style’ ministry – ministry that is not pressurized on conversion but loving attention to
others.
5. How can we effectively disciple our own families? The fact that parents are following
Jesus does not guarantee that children will follow the Lord. Principles need to be
intentionally modeled.

Discussion Questions:
1. Why are these convictions important?
2. How do you grow in developing convictions?
3. How will you obey the Great Commission to help make disciples?
