FORGIVENESS

LESSON 2
God our father forgives and
heals us.
Daniel 9:4-6,9-10
I prayed to the Lord, my God, and confessed, “Ah, Lord, great and
awesome God, you who keep your covenant and show mercy toward
those who love you and keep your commandments and your precepts!
We have sinned been wicked and done evil; we have rebelled and
turned from your commandments and your laws. We have not obeyed
your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our
princes, our ancestors, and all the people of the land… But to the
Lord, our God, belong compassion and forgiveness, though we
rebelled against him and did not hear the voice of the Lord, our God,
by walking in his laws given through his servants the prophets.
Compassion and Forgiveness
Compassion
-sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or
misfortunes of others.
Forgiveness
-letting go of past grudges or lingering anger against a
person or persons

Doctrinal Truth 1. God our creator gave us the power to think so
that we may enjoy the gift of freedom and be able to choose.
1.1. Because of God’s overflowing love for us, He created us with the
gift of intellect and will like Him.
1.2. As we were created with the gift of intellect and will, we are
enable to choose what is always good, right, and beautiful.
1.3. God created us with the gift of freedom, and we should be a
responsible being in facing the results of the action we choose.

Doctrinal Truth 2. God our Father respects our reason and
freedom, even when we choose to sin and go against Him.
2.1. God respect us and has given us complete authority to exercise
our own freedom and reason.
2.2. We were created by God with reasons and freedom, we should
choose an action that does not go against Him.
2.3. God continuously showered us the grace of forgiveness even the
use freedom is not according to His words.

Doctrinal Truth 3. God is a loving Father who is always
ready to forgive and heal us, His unfaithful children.
3.1. God let us experience His unconditional love even there are times
we are being unfaithful to Him.
3.2. God as a loving Father continuously provide for our needs.
3.3. God show us His mercy by forgiving our sins and calls us to
conversion.
Moral
Moral truth 4. Guided by the 5th commandment, let us respect the gift
of life and enhance our powers of thinking and choosing.
4.1. The 5th commandment says. Thou shall not kill. It forbids direct attacks on
human life and physical integrity, and it thus protects God’s gift of life.
4.2. Let us respect the gift of life and enhance our powers of thinking and
choosing. We shall promote practical care and respect for life and dignity of
all persons.
4.3. For example: Let us take proper care of our own spiritual and bodily well-
being. This obliges us to show love and care for ourselves by respecting the
precious gift of life.
Worship
Worship Truth 5. Let us approach the sacrament of Reconciliation regularly
and receive God’s mercy and forgiveness.
5.1. We can receive mercy and feel forgiveness after we submit our sins to the
Lord with the sacrament of reconciliation.
5.2. Let us approach the sacrament of reconciliation. We may manifest various
prayers to show repentance in charismatic groups and social service activities.
5.3. For example: The act of reconciliation is about contrition – wholly rejecting
sin. A large part of a good confession is meaning it, is seeking for forgiveness,
is putting your heart and soul into it. It’s all about being true and faithful.

How can I love God

ASSESSMENT:
Write a letter to someone you have offended, or
offended you. In your letter, express how you feel about
it. Practice the sacrament of reconciliation by asking for
