Investigate the reason why Thomas Cook group, the oldest travel agency in the world with a history
of 178 years, declared bankruptcy and give your advice to avoid similar problems.
Thomas Cook Group plc was a British global travel group. It was formed on 19 June 2007 by the
merger of Thomas cook and My travel group. The group operated in two separate segments: a tour
operator and an airline. It also operated travel agencies in Europe. On 23 September 2019 Thomas Cook
Group and all UK entities went into must liquation
Thomas Cook was listed on both the London stoke exchange and the Frank fruit stoke exchange
After the collapse, segments of the company were purchased by others, including the travel stores in the
UK, the airlines, the Thomas Cook name and logo, the hotel brands and the tour operators. The firm ran
travel agencies, hotel, resorts and airlines for 19 Mn travelers a year in 16 countries certainly has 600000
people abroad and employers more than 21000 people.
Now I am find some reason why they are collapsed and my advice
PepsiCo in terms of product mix width: Pepsi has a wide range of products, including cola, seven up,
juice soda, milk tea, etc. Pepsi's Cola products are sweeter than Coca Cola's and more in line with
people's taste after the 1980s. The same price is 20% more than Coca Cola and the Pepsi Star strategy
implemented by Pepsi is quite fast in catching up with Coca Cola. Pepsi Cola has a wide range of
business, involving soft drinks, sporting goods, fast food and food.
On the other hand Coca-Cola Advertising
As a foreign brand, Coca Cola actively integrates Chinese culture in its sales in China, implements the
strategy of localization of advertisements to cater to the tastes of Chinese people, and makes great
advertising on the success of Beijing's bid for the Olympic Games and China's accession to the WTO,
which makes Coca Cola like a local product in China and achieves the effect of communication with
Chinese consumers. TV, radio and other means can be used. A kind of.
As for celebrity effect: unique music promotion and celebrity advertising effect, its huge endorsement
lineup includes: pop stars Jay Chou, Edison Chen, Louis Koo, Jolyn Tsai, F4, Nicholas Tse and rain;
famous sports stars: Yao Ming and Beckham
Internet promotion in China, Coca Cola, while using the mass media, also spared no effort to establish its
own network communication system - Coca Cola Chinese website. The theme of the website is games,
activities and entertainment, which increases the entertainment and interest of the website, and this is the
best way to create brand attention
Homepage of coca cola company shows that their events and exploring their brands, scout their
sustainability in packaging, how they support their community, there social responsibility, and how they
innovate.
Homepage of PepsiCo shows that commitment taken for the pandemic of corona virus. So, they are up to
date. News and events and a gate way of reaching their social media platform.
By visiting these two company websites I find out the PepsiCo companies’ website is more eye appealing
and have more authoritative information. And PepsiCo seems to have more activity in their website. Cola
website mainly represents information about the products what they have. They have another website for
career. The reason behind my statement is true or not are: in PepsiCo we can fund both about their
product and social activities like Instagram/Facebook/Twitter posts. Here we also fund the product
information, nutritional information. News and stories about social impact, sustainability products,
companies’ updates, innovation etc. here we also find information about their investments, earning
information’s, events which shows directly their investment, financial news, shareholders information,
investors contact, stock information. Also, there we can find environmental, social and governments
Topics. Like agriculture, climate change, human rights, marketing to Children, Nutrition, Packaging,
Palm Oil Sustainability, Sustainability Governance, Sustainable Sourcing, Talent. Sustainable Food. The
reason I feel PepsiCo website is more appealing is its more compact than coca cola. And PepsiCo have a
site map which will help to visit the website more accurately which coca cola don’t have. That’s why I
feel its more eye appealing and because of the day to day updates and events about what they are doing
what they up to I can say that PepsiCo companies’ website seems to have more activity going on.
Suppose you have a successful business with a well-liked product. One day something goes wrong
and you ship 100,000 defective products. Almost the entirety of your customer based is disgruntled.
What social media strategy would you employ? Why? Would you be better off just “sticking your
head in the sand?
From my opinion, since social media has the speed to disseminate shared information therefore it would
be the right strategy for public relation management to use social media platforms to outreach the public
and overcome negative impact.
Now I will use strategy as below:
1) Social Listening
Listening for conversations about the company, competitors and most import is those negative news,
Social listening is more than understanding what people say about you. You also want to know what they
say about your competitors. This gives you important insights into where you fit in the marketplace.
2) Social Conversation
Finding and responding to conversations online – engaging with others in social media, explain to them
the reality behind the story. Otherwise customers don’t know the real reason .so it is also very important
3) Social Marketing
1.Giving warranties or replacement to those defective things.
2. Launching and running campaigns and promotions in social media.
3. Meets the needs of the priority population.
4. Society and consumer profit.
5.Organizations with similar goals cooperate.
6. Campaigns take longer to change behavior.
7.Consumer involvement and commitment needed.
4) Social Analytics
Measuring and analyzing results of social media efforts across various platforms. Like all business
strategies, social media requires reporting and analytics to determine how well it’s working. Social media
analytics is about gathering data from your social accounts and campaigns. You can then use it to track
and improve performance.
5) Social Influencer
Identifying and engaging with influencers that are relevant to the company or industry. Influencers in
social media are people who have built a reputation for their knowledge and expertise on a specific topic.
They make regular posts about that topic on their preferred social media channels and generate large
followings of enthusiastic, engaged people who pay close attention to their views.
