Could an automated medical diagnosis system ever replace live doctors? Why or why not?

In my personal opinion, I think its No

Because the AI system will be programmed by people, and each time there will be something that the
simple computer will miss

The human mind is the most complex and trained computer available - and the doctor is trained, and then
self-taught as they practice to be the best computer and processor possible.

Medicine is not always x + y - z = condition

treatment A may work 85% of the time, but not work 13% of the time, and 2% of the time it will kill the
patient - programming AI for that is possible, but so far we do not know why these percentages are the
way they are.

Because we do not know this, we cannot program it into AI

Medicine is a practice - and doctors are constantly honing the ability they have with more practice.

Consider this older joke, which is more truth than many wishes to admit:

The other problem with computers is the identification of signs. They may be good at history taking. But
nothing replaces the hand of a doctor in finding signs. Computers may be good at mummers and skin
lesions but to palpate a liver edge is currently beyond them.

Would you trust an experienced doctor over a database that you could query yourself? Why or
Why not?
I would trust an experienced doctor much more than a database. Even an inexperienced doctor. Or a
nurse. In my opinion, the database is created by humans. Human able to come out with the diagnose
based on the research

A database - or any other collection of facts is no match to an actual understanding of biology,

physiology, blood chemistry, etc.…

That’s what I need the doctor for. Somebody has a good understanding of how the human body works and
is familiar with what usually goes wrong. I do not. The doctor has hands-on experienced on the treatment
which able to explain much better instead of a database. It will only show what is the problem and
possibly diagnose and ways of treatment.

I have access to many databases on the internet. One of them will give me a very detailed and complete
parts list of everything in my car. But if my car makes a funny noise (it hasn’t, but bear with me) that
database is useless to me: I need a mechanical understanding of my car. Luckily, I am able to hire
somebody exactly for that job,
