I believe the purpose of this assignment was to give us practical experience with a

budget. I noticed I took notes but really understood the concepts once I did the practice. I was

delighted with what I learned. I have a small business and, although I do not sell inventory, I

enjoy more accurately being able to analyze costs. I can now more effectively help both my

sister and my mom, who both have small manufacturing businesses. I was comfortable with

Excel as I completed this assignment, although I would love to create a template with formulas

so this can be a budget that can be used from period to period. It gave me some good ideas for

my own personal Excel budget.

This assignment was not exactly hard, but it required paying close attention. I found the

example videos extremely helpful, as I had never done a budget like this other than in the

homework assignment. My major is business, and I will soon transfer to a university to pursue a

degree in accounting. I work at an accounting software company, so although my daily tasks are

not directly related to master budgets, I now have a better understanding of why my customers

ask for certain reports. I enjoyed the challenge of following the directions and paying close

attention to detail. I can always improve that skill, which I will need once I am an accountant.

I have found managerial accounting incredibly useful and practical. I learned things I had

been wondering how to calculate to price my services. I would like to do some master budgets

for my mom’s business and see how my new knowledge can help her.
