Instructions

If you have a classroom mirror, encourage the kids to have a look at themselves
and identify features such as their eye color, hair color, eyebrows, nose etc.
Craft Template – These look really cute printed on a variety of colored paper. I try
to print a variety of colors, so that the kids can choose a color they like.
Writing Template – These come in both an American and Australian spelling
version. I usually print these ones on white paper.
IDEAS FOR SELF PORTRAITS
Collage – Provide kids with a variety of collage materials such as colored yarn,
small bits of fabric or crepe paper, googly eyes, mini popsicle sticks or
matchsticks. I like adding the option of acrylic paint too.
Painting – Kids can paint their features using acrylic paint.
Oil Pastels and Dye – It can be fun to use oil pastels and then edicol dye over the
top. If you’re choosing this option, I would print the template on thick white
cartridge paper so it doesn’t go soggy.
