Abortion

Abortion.

Some of may ask me – what? Abortion? Is it a social problem? And I would say – yes. It is.

It was so difficult for me to choose a topic to talk about and I went through a lot of social
problems while deciding which one should I highlight. And every time I heard this word in
my mind – abortion. It was a time when I told myself “Dasha, let’s talk about something
easy to write and easy to talk about” but It didn’t come out. Because I don’t wanna talk
about something that doesn’t touch my heart.

I should admit that I have never faced this problem in my life, but It always was a painful
topic.

Let me give you some statistic.

According to the data for 2020, 42 millions women had had abortions which is over than
mortality from any other disease, cancer, smoking or alcoholism.

According to research of WHO (World Health Organization):

- More than 13 million people died from infectious disease

- More than 8,2 million people died from cancer
- More than 5,1 million people died from smoking
- 2,1 million people died from alcoholism
- 1,8 million people died from COVID 19, said Johns Hopkins University

Ok, let’s go deep and find out why I am so concerned about this problem

There’s two kind of thinking:

1. Abortion is good, the fetus(плод) is a part of the woman and she should choose what is
good for her body
2. Abortion is killing, fetus is a human, We shouldn’t allow abortions besides some
circumstances.

And these two thought are opposite to each other and people debate every time. I guess
forever we will be arguing about it.

But I don’t wanna go deep and tell you is fetus a human or not. I want to draw you
attention to some story, that I found during this research.

The first time Ashley McGuire had a baby, she and her husband had to wait 20 weeks to
learn its sex. By the way, The 1970 law allowed abortion up to 20 weeks of
pregnancyю
By her third child, they found out the sex at 10 weeks with a blood test. Technology has
defined her pregnancies from the apps that track weekly development to the ultrasounds
that show the growing child. “My generation has grown up under an entirely different
world of science and technology than the Roe generation,” she said. “We’re in a culture
that is science-obsessed.”

Now, with new medical techniques, doctors are debating whether that threshold should be
closer to 22 weeks.

Today’s prospective moms and dads can learn more about their baby than their parents or
grandparents. And like McGuire, when they see their fetus on an ultrasound, they may see
humanizing qualities like smiles or claps, even if most scientists see random muscle
movements.

My personal opinion is that abortion is immoral. Even if the child was unplanned or it was
a an abuse. Every life matters and we cannot judge who is going to live or who is going to
die.

While 48 million couples suffering from infertility (бесплодие), women continue

abortions. So, you see 42 millions abortions against 48 infertility couples. It’s more than
bad. It’s awful.

It is really a difficult question. I would like to show you a video. I haven’t found it in
English, sorry, but it related to the problem.

So, as you see, while a lot of women are struggling to have a child, others continue to kill.

Ok, what are we up to? You may say: what can we do? We can’t fix the infertility. That’s
true. But we can stop unnecessary abortions. The problem is in human’s personality.
Most of people don’t realize the circumstances of casual sex. Most of them have sex even
with the person they love, but don’t take all responsibility. The problem is very wide in
teenage age. But there are people, who make abortion because the child is
uncomfortable. Yeah, someone else’s life uncomfortable to build a career, to have
responsibility for someone else…

What we can do?

1. Take full responsibility for decisions we make

2. Encourage others to live pro-life live.
3. Tell teenagers about responsibility they should take

Questions:

1. What’s your personal opinion about abortions?

2. Do you know any case of teenage abortion that you can share?
