Pedagogy Planning

In this interactive white board activity, the children will touch the board to select and
drag items and learn about simple machines.
Pedagogy

Activity To begin the lesson, I will have students sit on the floor
surrounding the board but remaining within clear view of the
screen. I will lead them through the activities and read the
instructions on screen and then choose a different student to
participate in each activity.
1. First students will use 6 yellow hints given on the
screen to make educated guesses about the 6 kinds of
simple machines. Students will then drag the yellow
hint into the dumpster on screen to reveal the correct
answer.
2. Students will drag each simple machine name to the
correct definition on the screen.
3. Students will circle the correct simple machine pictured
on screen for each prompted description question.
4. Students will drag an item across the screen to reveal
an additional simple machine and reveal the name.
5. Students will drag the simple machine names to
correctly match the compound machine.
6. Students will draw and elaborate on a simple or
compound machine of their choosing.
7. Students will give an example of a job that utilizes a
simple or compound machine and elaborate upon how.
