Title of Extension Program: AGHAM ( Assistance Given to Help Attain Mastery)

AGHAM is new extension program of Dinalupihan Campus under the BSED General
Science Program. The general goal of the program is to extend assistance to elementary and
high school learners in the district of Dinalupihan who are experiencing difficulty in the
new normal mode of learning.

II. RATIONALE

Last year, 2020, we were hit by a massive crisis that shook everyone’s lives in a blink of an eye.
Strict health protocols where implemented to avoid further damages. With response to this crisis,
face-to-face schooling was cancelled and replaced by flexible learning. Online schooling and modular
distance learning was executed. Students were left with no choice but to deal with it. The number of
dropout this school year took a leap. Those who have gadgets and internet connectivity attended
online schooling while those who are not capable of doing that resorted to in the modular distance
learning. But not every student is capable of learning by themselves and as an intervention to this, the
1st Project of AGHAM (Assistance Given to Help Attain Mastery), entitled, Angat -Siyensya sa
Pandemya: Aiding Modular Learners in Surviving New Normal Education through Online Assistance was
born. It is a project that aims to at least make the new normal learning easier and more effective for
the modular learners particularly those who are inside Dinalupihan Bataan. It is an extension
program that aims to create positive impacts on the learning of the said students and at the same time
serve as a training ground for the future educators from Bataan Peninsula State University-
Dinalupihan Campus specifically the BSEd Science students. Furthermore, it also seeks to exercise
their teaching capabilities in advance.

(Brief Description of the Problem)

Soon after the re-opening of classes this year after the pandemic crippled the traditional face-
to-face learning, new approaches for disseminating teachings have arisen, one of which is Modular
Learning. Modular learning is a type of learning wherein learners rely on the crafted learning
materials provided by the teachers a.k.a. the Self- learning modules. Although it caters to the issue of
students’ incapability of having well-functioning gadgets such as mobile phones, tablets, and
computers, and having a stable internet connection, problems like learners’ comprehension, parents’
educational background, and poor learning environment might compromise the quality of learning.
With the problematic situation accompanied by modular learning, we must act accordingly to put an
end to these awful experiences as we aim for an equal learning opportunity for all.

Description of the Target Group

When the world was caught off guard by the COVID-19 pandemic, it has had a profound and
unexpected impact on many aspects of our lives especially in education. As a result, online class and
modular distance learning has been implemented as an urgent response to ensure educational
continuity. Some students have continued their schooling despite the changes and challenges of the
alternative learning system. But unfortunately, not all students have the resources, willingness, and
preparedness in order to learn and keep up. Some of them also don’t have the capability to learn on
their own for we all have different learning styles. Our target beneficiaries are the students from
elementary and junior high school, for they are purely under modular distance learning. A lot of
these students are struggling with self-study. Until now, they do not know their own learning

preferences or how they will cope up and understand their modules. They also don’t know where to
seek help because some parents lack knowledge to academically guide their children. Students have
the ability to build a nation, and society must provide them with that opportunity. They are the
future, with a perspective that previous generations lacked. Their eagerness and enthusiasm to learn
must be properly directed in order for the world to progress and flourish.

III. PROJECT OBJECTIVES

A. General objective:
Generally, this will serve as a means of training and exercising the teaching capabilities of the
future educators in the midst of this pandemic. Using online platforms, the information will
be generated to provide the educational needs of students in their modular learning as well as
the orientation of the parents to be able to give them knowledge to do the right approach in
teaching their children properly and effectively at home. The online assistance is provided to
ensure the effectiveness of modular distance learning to every students and parents involved
to the program.

B. Specific objectives:

 To provide positive impacts on the learning of the modular students of Dinalupihan through
the academic knowledge and skills of the BSEd Science students of BPSU-Dinalupihan
campus.
 To empower and educate the parents with effective learning and teaching tools and
techniques for their children's learning process.
 To expand and enhance the technological learning capabilities of the students to meet their
current need to keep up with the flexible education.
 To satisfy the learning style preference and needs of the students in the new normal.
 To give specific and reliable information to the students by providing meaningful information
through online discussions and visuals.
 To lessen the struggle of the parents in teaching and guiding their children with their modular
distance learning.
 To give more emphasis on the subject that might be difficult for the students especially the
science subject.
