Progress I have made during this week

(Don’t forget to provide a breakdown of time spent on each item listed)

● Watched videos about how to paint skateboards + ideated designs to draw- 2 hours
○ Decided on a white tiger design
● Got supplies, painted skateboard white, drew design on to skateboard- 3 hours
● Talked to mentor about coding and computer science- 1 hour

What I need to move forward with my Capstone (time, space, materials, contacts)
● I will need about 2 hours to paint my design on to the board
● I will need to find a resource on drawing to use (either a youtube playlist or a book)
● I already got brushes of various sizes and acrylic paints so I am ready to begin the
next part of painting the skateboard
● I do not need to contact anyone next week to finish painting my skateboard

Obstacles I have encountered and how I’ve moved forward:

● I was afraid of ruining the white paint layer of the skateboard so I drew my design on
to paper first, then cut out sections of the paper to use it as a stencil
○ I freehanded the parts that were too small to cut out (eg. the eyes)

Obstacles I can foresee in my next steps:

● I might have some trouble painting the eye to make it look real and blending my
acrylic paints to get the shades I need
○ I also need to figure how I will make the pupil circular (will likely make another
stencil for this)

The skills I’ve used and what I’ve learned:

● I used critical thinking to figure out how best to transfer my design idea on to the
board
● I had to think creatively to figure out what design to paint on the skateboard

My goals and deadlines for the next week:

● Finish my skateboard
● Use resources (book, youtube videos, or both) to learn how to improve my drawing
● Start at least one drawing (how far I get through it will be based on how big of a
drawing it is)
