A SUCCESSFUL GRANT APPLICATION – THE CONTENT THAT WON

Diligence, dedication, and commitment run in my blood. Be it studies or be it a profession, I

can’t move on without these integral parts of my character. Such personality traits have

always helped me become a star individual performer and a tactful team player everywhere.

In fact, performance has been the main factor for compensating students in the form of

scholarships. In addition to merit (or performance), need is yet another main factor for

awarding study scholarships. Moreover, scholarship(s) history also has to do a lot with

getting selected for any scholarship. I also have some similar mix of the rationale behind

“why I deserve a scholarship” –– merit, need, and scholarship(s) track record.

Merit or Performance

Every scholarship sponsor wants awardees of scholarship that they must continue producing

promising results in order for their scholarships to be continued. Generally, a student’s Grade

Point Average (GPA) is set as the yardstick of his/her performance. If this is the case, I

deserve a scholarship. A look at my GPA track record during BBA (4 years) at Sukkur IBA

will rationalize that my GPA had always been 3+ except for the first semester. This was the

reason why my scholarship during BBA continued till the end of the course of studies i.e.

August 2009 to May 2013, unlike some other awardees whose scholarships, unfortunately,

were revoked by the sponsors and the institute because their GPA fell far short of the

standard set i.e. 3 (GPA). Therefore, my studious nature calls for applying for a merit-based

scholarship because of the brilliant semester performance. I’ll be doing best to keep my

performance at the same sparkling level during studies at IoBM/KSBL.

Need

This factor has also worked for many needy and destitute students in hosts of cases. The

same applies to me too. My father retired as a Shunting Master from Pakistan Railways. As

of today, his monthly gross pension totals PKR 13,398/-. Two sisters and one brother are all

married and have separate families and settled separately. My father is the only one who

supports me, my studies, and my mother. If I rely only on the income of my father, I won’t be

able to get admission to any prestigious institute in Pakistan or abroad. Therefore, I have

never been worried about my financial background as a mere reason for the continuation of

my studies. Hence, I apply for need-based scholarships with great confidence because my

financial background so demands.

Scholarship(s) Track Record

Well, I also have a track record of two lucrative scholarships during my 16-year academic

career, viz. “Sindh Endowment Fund Scholarship” and “Middle Standard Scholarship.” The

former was awarded to me by Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh for

the four years of BBA at Sukkur Institute of Business Administration making it easier for me

to continue with the studies with more diligence, commitment, and dedication. The bases for

the award of this scholarship to me were both merit (3+ CGPA) as well as need. The latter

was awarded by District Government Khairpur during my secondary studies (Grade VI-VIII).

Award of such scholarships deservedly makes me a suitable candidate for future

scholarship(s) considerations.
