The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1974, provides for compounding of offences.
Compounding of offences allows an accused to make a compromise with, usually the
victim, with the permission of the court. Such permission of the court is not required for all
the offences. The effect of this compromise will be acquittal of the accused. But, only the
offences which are provided under section 320 can be compounded. A list is attached
below for your reference.
