3060, the following criteria will be used to determine a grade for this assignment:

 The problem is clearly described in sufficient detail and in terms that are accessible to the audience
 Technical components are defined or described for a mixed audience (specialist and non-experts)  

______Background:  1 point. 
 Does the concept paper provide enough background information for decision makers (the class and instructor) to
understand the significance of the problem being addressed?

______Audience and Purpose: 1 point 

 An initial audience is identified specifically
 The concept paper states the upcoming project’s initial purpose or objectives –clearly and concisely.
 The author attempts to identify with some of their audience’s goals and values and discusses briefly how their
proposal might help them achieve these goals. This reflects an understanding of the guidelines and rhetorical
strategies from Chapter Five. 
 

______Proposal: 1 point
 Does the proposal effectively tell us whether the solution is managerial, technological, or economic; or a
combination of these?
 Do they offer an initial analysis of the costs and benefits (advantages and disadvantages) of the proposed
solution?
 Do they offer some assurances that they are capable of carrying out the plan?

______Grammar, Style, and Format:  1 point.  

 Sentences are grammatically correct, and style is appropriate.
 Assignment is formatted properly as a memo
