(Anecdote)

Three years ago I began teaching and I’d been assigned to the farthest
complete elementary/secondary school of East Alabel District setting ground at
around twenty-seven kilometers away from Poblacion, Alabel, Sarangani
Province. Being one of the seven (7) schools of the mountainous barangay of
Pag-asa, the school sets foot on a small sloppy plain on the side of a hill
seemingly carved on purpose. It takes a two-hour bouncy ride via a motorcycle
or a four-wheeled vehicle known as “weapon” or by a three-hour journey
traversing hilly terrains and crossing a lone, wide and strongly-currented water
for not less than twenty (20) times on foot or on a horseback to get to the
school. The school is located at Barangay Pag-asa, from the name itself there’s
always hope in that area. I do believe that being a teacher in a far flung school
requires a lot of efforts, more than commitment, love and passion to give
quality service to our clientele. I am proud to say that I gave my life and
rendered more than our countrymen asked from me.
