READ THE PASSAGE   Think about the main idea and the order of events in the story.

Mixed-Up Aunt Hilda

June and I were very excited because Mom’s sister, Aunt Hilda, was coming to visit
all the way from South Africa. Aunt Hilda studied zebras there, and she told many
interesting stories. She was really funny, too, because she did everything backward.
“I wonder if we’ll have breakfast for dinner,” June said. “Or maybe Aunt Hilda will wash
clothes in the dishwasher and dishes in the washing machine again.”
“I sure hope not. Her visits are getting expensive,” said Dad, who was looking out the
window and waiting for Aunt Hilda’s taxi to arrive. “Oh, here she is!”
Aunt Hilda came through the door. “Good morning!” she said, even though it was late
in the afternoon. We laughed, which made Aunt Hilda blush. Aunt Hilda then passed out
presents. She gave me a new doll and June a toy robot. She gave Mom a new tie and
Dad some fancy perfume.
“I’m so hungry, I could eat a fly!” Aunt Hilda said.
“We’re having chicken salad instead,” Dad said. “Why don’t you get ready for dinner,
Hilda.” Aunt Hilda walked into the bathroom, put on her pajamas, and walked past us to
the guest bedroom. June and I started giggling.
“It must have been a very long flight,” Mom said.
