A controversial result of globalization is its definite domino effect that affects every

nation of free trading. An economic downturn by a powerful country with many alliances and
trading relations would ultimately affect those it had contracted with. Globalization’s goal is said
to be idealistic because it aims for the development of everyone, however it is also opportunistic
from the perspective of small corporations as specific industries in emergence do not benefit as
well as those in power and control. Globalization while overall good for the economy, its impact
still varies from cultures, workers, and small businesses around the world.

A discussion of the significant distinction of State and Nation comprises the concept of
legality on the spectrum of State and of ethnicity and race on the side of nation. The State is
composed of people, government, territory, and sovereignty to which they exercise a democratic
and republican system. There is a need for people to be self-sufficient and capable of defense,
independence as of its government that will emanate from the people’s authority and which the
representatives would be chosen by the people. A territory which is neither too small or too big
as long as capable of defense and could cater the needs of its people. And sovereignty which
would be inherent, absolute, and cannot be subjected to transfer but would remain with the
people. Sovereignty has two important kinds- one pertaining to internal sovereignty where
people could exercise their sovereignty in their territory with absolute and unlimited power of
governance. The other one pertains to external sovereignty which means independence and
connotes freedom of external control and foreign governance.

There are several theories which provide explanations as where State first existed and
became a power remaining and created by the people themselves. Divine Cognitive provides that
State was essentially from God and was shared to the people for their effective and good use. On
the other hand, Necessity of Force theory tells that the need for people to create a State and earn
a sense of belonging. The paternalistic Theory states that through the years of tribe-family
relations of the people, ultimately led to the thinking that a State is essential for the evolving and
expanding of nations. The most known theory and is actually a part of our present constitution is
the Social Contract Theory where the people surrendered their sovereign powers to the State for
its purposeful use and common good.

Imagined Community is the goal of said theories as it envisions a community that is rich
and would be beneficial the most for the people. Benedict Anderson became famous for his
visions of the imagined communities. It tells what a good community would be like as well as
the proper steps to address problems that serve as inhibitions towards the attainment of such
imagined community. According to Anderson, “because regardless of the actual inequality and
exploitation that may prevail in each, the nation is always conceived as a deep, horizontal
comradeship” and the famous concept of “It is imagined to be sovereign, that is being free.”

Lastly, the creation of international organizations where States could be a member of and
would serve as the common ground between the several States in the world. Organizations
govern operations across international borders. It maintains the good relations of States and is
presently considered to have growing importance in the world of politics. There are two kind of
international organizations: the intergovernmental organizations and international non-
governmental organizations. One of the known organizations is the United Nations which
composed of signatory States and the one governing various relations pertaining to world peace,
promotion of cooperation among countries, and the ever respect to human rights.
