ROBOND™ L-2150
Waterborne Laminating Adhesive
Description
Robond L-2150 is a waterborne, cross-linkable two component laminating adhesive that requires the use of a
coreactant. Robond L-2150 adhesive adheres to a wide variety of substrates including cellophane, treated
polyolefins, polyester, vinyl, aluminum foil, paper, metallized and PVDC-coated materials, the treated
heat-sealable layers of coextrusions, and certain other substrates for flexible packaging laminations.

Robond L-2150 adhesive provides optical clarity, high bond strength, and a high level of heat and chemical
resistance.

Typical Uses
The principal uses for Robond L-2150 adhesive with coreactant are in medium performance industrial
laminations such as polyester film/scrim and polyester/foil for thermal insulation applications.

Recommended Application Conditions

Desired coating weight is 1.5 - 3.5 dry pounds/ream (3000 square feet) for typical applications. Higher
coating weights may be needed where reinforcement materials such as scrim are used.

Optimum coating properties are achieved at 40% solids content, as supplied. In most cases the adhesive
should initially be evaluated neat.
o
Adequate drying is typically realized with a web exit temperature of about 180 F. Evaluate completeness of
drying based on your oven conditions and line speed.

Optimum performance and adhesive appearance is realized at a glue line temperature of 170°F or above.

A typical pot life for Robond L-2150/Robond CR-2 is approximately 4 hours, when used as directed.

Disclaimer
Robond L-2150 may react or interact with other components of laminations. Retained volatiles (solvents or
water), slip additives, anti-block agents and inks are some of the components that may cause property
changes of the laminated structure. If Robond L-2150 is used on high slip films (COF < 0.2) or with high slip
LDPE/LDPE laminations, then the user must verify that potential film property changes, due to the
lamination process and materials, are acceptable for the end use performance requirement.

Safety, Handling and Storage

• Store in cool, dry, well ventilated area.
• Follow good manufacturing and handling practices.
• Wash thoroughly after handling. Wash contaminated goggles, face shield, and gloves.
Professionally launder contaminated clothing before re-use.
• ATTENTION! Container can be hazardous when empty. Follow label warnings even after container
is empty. Do not reuse empty container without professionally cleaning it first.
• Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet for more information.
