Typical Uses
Laminations that require outstanding adhesion to aluminum foil with high degrees of bond strength, age
stability, thermal resistance and chemical resistance. Typical laminations for which it is suitable are:
Aluminum Foil/Polyester Film
Aluminum Foil/Nylon
Aluminum Foil/Treated Polyethylene
Aluminum Foil/Treated Polypropylene
Copper Foil/Polyamide Film
Copper Foil/Polyester Film

Mixing for Use

Adcote 76P1-38 should be mechanically agitated in the drum prior to catalyzing or dilution. Combine
5.0 parts Coreactant F with 100 parts Adcote 76P1-38 just before use. Higher levels of Coreactant F should
be thoroughly evaluated where high degrees of chemical and thermal resistance are required. Coreactant F
container must be kept closed when not in use. Thin as desired with MEK, toluol or 99% Ethyl Acetate.

Adhesive Application
Adcote 76P1-38 can be applied by gravure, smooth roll or reverse roll techniques. The adhesive is generally
applied to the less porous, more stable substrate.

Adhesive Weight
Approximately 3.2-4.8 grams of dry adhesive per square meter will generally provide excellent results in
laminations of light gauge substrates. Higher adhesive weights may be required in laminations of heavy
gauge substrates and/or where high degrees of thermal or chemical resistance are required.

Drying
Use sufficient temperature and air velocity to assure complete solvent removal. Oven temperatures in the
range of 200-250F are generally suitable.

Laminating Combining
Laminate to the second substrate using heated pressure nip rollers at a temperature high enough to assure
complete wetting of the secondary substrate. A minimum temperature of 160F is recommended, however,
temperatures approaching 350F may be required to obtain optimum adhesive performance in laminations of
heavy gauge substrates or where adhesion is of prime importance.

Bond immediately off the laminator is fair. Maximum thermal and chemical properties will develop within
7-14 days. For high performance applications, post-curing at elevated temperatures of 120-150F is
recommended.

High molecular weight polyesters that are used in solution adhesives like Adcote 76P1-38 have a tendency to
form a reversible structure in solution with time. This structuring is accelerated when the adhesive is exposed
to temperature below 50°F. The structuring is reversible if heat and shear is applied to the adhesive. We
recommend placing the container of adhesive in a steam cabinet, allowing venting of the container and
heating to 110-140°F. After the adhesive reaches the proper temperature, mix the adhesive in the container
1-3 hours under moderate shear. Use of a disperser or “Cowles” type blade will shorten the time needed.

Caution must be taken because of the flammability of the solvents used in the adhesive. Please
review MSDS for hazards associated with the adhesive.

Attempting to redisperse without heat may reduce the apparent viscosity, but not result in a homogeneous
mix. Before using the adhesive, check to make sure that all resin has returned to a true solution and no gels
remain.

Safety, Handling and Storage

 Store in cool, dry, well ventilated area.
 Follow good manufacturing and handling practices.
 Wash thoroughly after handling. Wash contaminated goggles, face shield, and gloves.
Professionally launder contaminated clothing before re-use.
 ATTENTION! Container can be hazardous when empty. Follow label warnings even after container
is empty. Do not reuse empty container without professional cleaning.
 Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet for more information.
