Dear Parent / Carer,

GCSE Course Texts

As part of your son / daughter’s GCSE English Literature course, they will be studying ‘Journey’s End’ by R. C.
Sherriff in Terms 3 and 4. It would be in the best interests of all students to purchase a copy of the play, so
that they can use them in class and annotate them – this will be invaluable for future revision and
examination preparation. Much of their independent study will be focused on further reading of the play and
a thorough knowledge of character, theme and writer’s craft.

There is an opportunity for you to purchase the edition that we will be using in class, directly from the school
via ParentPay. The text is priced as follows:
‘Journey’s End’ - £11.15

You will be able to purchase this on ParentPay from today and it will be available until Friday 8th January.
Whilst you are free to purchase your own version of the text, it would be of most benefit if all students had
the same copy. We have chosen these particular versions (from Heinemann Educational), after research into
texts that are compatible with exam board regulations and texts that are most cost effective.
