5. BUGFIXES IN R5A00
These defects present in previous revisions have been corrected in R5A00.
The defect was introduced in SW-EVOLUTION-R4B and is present in R4B00, R4B01 and R4B02 revisions.
The defect has been corrected in SW-EVOLUTION-R5A.
Cumulative Error pulses on the Line input are not affected by this defect.
The defect was introduced in SW-EVOLUTION-R3B and is present in R3B, R4A, R4B00, R4B01 and
R4B02 revisions. The defect has been corrected in SW-EVOLUTION-R5A.

6.1 PROCEDURE
Note:
Do not upgrade from Release1 or Release2 on a running system. Upgrade from Release3 and Release4
is OK.
This SW package contains a whole new licensing scheme. Upgrading from Release1 or Release2 package to
Release5 will cause traffic down. New licenses have to be installed in order for the system to come up and
operate normally again. In order to install the licenses when traffic is down, one has to be at the site.
Note1:
This SW package contains new versions of FPGA codes compared to R3 and R4. Updating will therefore
cause a traffic
that the link maybreak.

Download Procedure:
Use Web GUI to download to element. You need admin privileges to be able to download the new package.
Select Configuration Software and the SW Download tab. Select the first tar file for the R5A00 package.
The package contains four tars.
Depending on what versions is on the active and inactive, the software installer will minimize the need for
transfer between web client and element. If the software is not complete after first tar, you have to choose the
second tar file. If the package becomes complete on the element, you are allowed to switch the software.
Use the SU SW Versions tab and click on Switch Software tab. The SU will restart, so the connection to the
WEB server is lost. You should be able to log in again after a short while.
Please note that with SW version R4Bxx information about the current SU is stored in the IFU Basic Frame.
As a result the SU has to be activated after the first restart running R4Bxx. Press the Set Current SU active
button displayed in figure 2.
The new package contains new revisions of XCVR Appl. SW as well as XCVR FPGA code. Both files will
be downloaded to the XCVR unit automatically. Please note that this may take several minutes to complete.
7. KNOWN PROBLEMS
Workaround:
Use one ABR until a new SW version that fixes this problem is released.
7.2 T1/E1 WAYSIDE CAN ONLY BE INSERTED IN ONE CHANNEL PR. IFU BASIC
FRAME
Support for 2 channels will be available later.
7.6 GIGABIT INTERFACE UNIT (GIU) AND 2+0 311MB/S IN ONE IFU BASIC FRAME
2+0 configuration with Gigabit Interface Unit using one single IFU Basic Frame is not supported in R5A00.
The following systems are valid for the Gigabit Interface Unit when running 311Mb/s channels:
• 1+0, 1+1, HSB using one single IFU Basic Frame. Total capacity 311Mb/s over the radio hop.
• 2+0 using two IFU Basic Frames. Total capacity 622Mb/s over the radio hop.
